CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati baseball team scored six runs in the first inning on the way to an 11-1, seven-inning win over Tulane on Friday in American Athletic Conference action at UC Baseball Stadium.

The game ended after seven innings due to the AAC 10-run rule being in effect. Cincinnati (28-24, 17-14 AAC) earned the series win over Tulane (28-21, 17-9 AAC) with Saturday's finale still to play.

UC's first five batters of the game reached with Cole Harting and Jace Mercer hitting back-to-back singles, Eric Santiago reaching on and error which scored Harting, Ryan Nicholson's RBI single to right and Paul Komistek's three-run, laser shot which landed almost 400 feet from home plate near O'Varsity Way.

Dondrae Bremner got in on the action with a two-out single of his own and he scored the final run of the inning courtesy of a Joe Powell RBI single to right field.

That was all the cushion UC starter Evan Shawver would need, throwing 90 pitches in a 6.0 inning outing, striking out eight and giving up one run on two hits. He notched career strikeout 150 during the game and moved to 3-1 on the year. Dean McCarthy closed out the seventh, striking out two in a one-inning session.

South Florida 7, East Carolina 0 - Box Score
TAMPA (May 21, 2021) – Redshirt freshmen Jack Jasiak and Orion Kerkering combined for a three-hit shutout of the No. 10-ranked East Carolina Pirates (38-12, 20-7 AAC) on Friday afternoon in a 7-0 victory for the USF Bulls (23-26, 13-14 AAC).

The duo's effort stands as USF's league-leading fifth shutout of the season.

Jasiak (5-7) allowed just two hits and struck out three over 7.0 IP to record his third straight win on the mound. The right-hander has turned in quality starts in three straight and now has 10 on the season.

The Bulls staked their starting pitcher to a 4-0 in the bottom of the first inning. A leadoff single by Carmine Lane, and consecutive walks by Riley Hogan and Roberto Peña loaded the bases with no outs. Jake Sullivan broke the scoring seal with a sacrifice fly, and two batters later, with two outs, Daniel Cantu smashed a three-run homer through the wind in right-center field.

With the final out of the top of the first frame, Jasiak proceeded to retire 11 in a row through the top of the fifth as he was on cruise control against the potent Pirate offense.

USF tacked on one more run in the fifth, and plated two more in the seventh. Lane added an RBI-single in the seventh and Matt Ruiz forced home a run with a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch.

UCF 6, Houston 0 - Box Score
Orlando, Fla. – The UCF baseball team clinched a series win on Friday night with a 6-0 win over Houston.

The Knights bats started early and often as Tom Josten led the game off with a solo home run. The next three batters all got on base with singles, which pushed the UCF lead to 2-0.

A hit by pitch and two more singles later and the score was 4-0 in favor of the Knights in the first. In Josten's second at bat of the first inning he got plunked by the pitch which plated the fifth run of the inning.

After the huge first inning, UCF starter Jack Sinclair got to work. He tossed three shutout innings only allowing one hit while striking out two Cougars and walking none.

AJ Jones came out the pen and picked up right where Sinclair left off. He threw six shutout innings, allowing seven hits and one walk while striking out eight Houston hitters.
