GREENVILLE, N.C. – Gavin Williams struck out nine while his offense pounded out 16 hits including three home runs, lifting No. 13 East Carolina to a 12-4 win over No. 22 Tulane Friday afternoon at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium in American Athletic Conference action. With the win the Pirates improve to 31-9 on the year and 13-4 in league play, while the Green Wave drop to 24-15 and 13-3.
ECU plated the first run of the game in the second inning taking an early 1-0 lead. Zach Agnos singled up the middle which was followed by an infield hit by Lane Hoover putting runners on first and second. Bryson Worrell dropped down a sac bunt moving both runners into scoring position and Seth Caddell's ground out to third pushed across Agnos.
Back-to-back home runs by Worrell and Caddell highlighted a three-run fourth inning for the Pirates who extended their lead to 4-0 and never looked back. Agnos led off with a double and would later score on a wild pitch for the first run. Worrell blasted his fifth homer of the season with a solo shot to right-center and Caddell followed with his team-leading 12th home run sending a shot to left field.
Williams (7-0) gave up a pair of runs (both earned) on five hits with a walk and nine strikeouts in 5.1 innings. The righty has fanned nine or more batters in six consecutive starts, which includes his five-straight in league play. He fanned at least one in all six innings he worked including multiple in the first three. Cam Colmore tossed two scoreless frames with three strikeouts, while Landon Ginn allowed two runs (both earned) on four hits after facing six batters. C.J. Mayhue struck out two and walked three in two-thirds of a frame and Josh Grosz worked a scoreless ninth.
Braden Olthoff (5-2) allowed four runs (all earned) on nine hits with a pair of strikeouts in four innings. Jake McDonald gave up two runs (one earned) in one-plus inning of relief work. The Green Wave used six arms out of the bullpen getting work from Jake McDonald (1.0 IP, 2 Rs, 2 Ks), Keaton Knueppel (0.2 IP, 1 K) David Bates (0.2 IP, 2 Rs), Justin Campbell (0.0 IP, 1 R), Lane Thomas (0.2 IP, 3 Rs, 1 K) and Turner Thompson (1.0 IP, 2 Ks).

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Behind a dominant starting pitching performance from Carson Stinnett (W, 3-4) and two early RBI hits, including a solo home run, from Hunter Goodman, the Memphis Tigers picked up a 3-1 victory in game one of Friday's doubleheader vs. the USF Bulls. In the back half of the twin bill, USF struck early and often in route to a 9-2 victory that split the doubleheader.
In what has become somewhat of a trend for the Tigers, they picked up a win in the opening half of the series-opening doubleheader, as three of their four conference wins this season have come in the opening game of the series, all of which have begun with a twin bill. Stinnett faltered in the opening frame, as three straight Bulls reached with one out, while Joaquin Monque gave USF (18-22, 8-10) the early 1-0 lead with a sacrifice fly. Stinnett stranded two runners in the frame and then saw just two more runners reach scoring position over the next five innings. Stinnett allowed just one run on two hits as he struck out six over six frames in the win.
Memphis (14-30, 4-18) quickly erased the first inning deficit, as Braden Webb reached on an error by Nick Gonzalez to begin the inning, while Zach Wilson followed with a walk. Goodman tied the game with an RBI single off of Dylan Burns (L, 3-4), and Ian Bibiloni put the Tigers ahead with a bunt single that plated Wilson. Burns stranded two men in scoring position in the inning and gave up a solo home run to Goodman to lead off the third, but then retired the final 15 batters that he faced. Goodman's AAC-best 15th home run of the year gave Memphis a 3-1 lead, the eventual final.
After six frames from Stinnett, Bailey Wimberley retired six of the seven batters that he faced across the seventh and eighth frames, while Takoda Metoxen (SV, 4) worked around a leadoff single in the ninth and retired the next three batters to close out Memphis' 3-1 win.

Box Score
USF followed the same script in the nightcap by taking a 1-0 lead in the first frame. Monque delivered the first run of the game again, this time, with a two-out RBI-single.
Once more, Memphis was aided by a USF error and answered with two runs in the home half of the inning off Jasiak to claim a 2-1 advantage.
Unlike the opener, the Bulls' offense had plenty left in the tank, and proceeded to score eight unanswered runs, including five over the next three innings.
Carmine Lane put the Bulls in front for good with a two-run double in the top of the second. Roberto Peña led off the third with a double and came around to score on an RBI-single by Jake Sullivan. Julio Cortez capped the inning with a sacrifice fly to pad the USF lead to 5-2.
In the fourth, Lane circled the bases with his second home run in three games to make it a 6-2 affair.
Monque and Sullivan each tacked on a run in the eighth, and Jarrett Eaton scored the final run of the game in the ninth.
With his offensive doing the heavy lifting, Jasiak (3-7) settled in nicely after surrendering a pair in the first frame. The right-hander allowed two runs (one earned) on only four hits over 7.1 IP.
