IRVING, Texas – American Athletic Conference Commissioner Mike Aresco has issued the following statement on the passing of former Big East Commissioner John Marinatto.
 
 
We at the American Athletic Conference are very saddened to learn of John Marinatto’s passing. John worked tirelessly on behalf of student-athletes, first at Providence College and later as Commissioner of the Big East Conference. I had the privilege of working closely with John while I was with CBS, and he remained a friend of our reinvented conference. We all appreciated John’s efforts to restructure the Big East during a tumultuous time.
 
We extend our deepest condolences to John’s family and to his many friends and colleagues.
