No. 8/12 SMU utilized a strong team performance to defeat Incarnate Word 3-0 in Monday night soccer in Dallas. The Mustangs outshot Incarnate Word 23-3 on the night, including 14-1 in the second half alone.
Roman Knox shoveled in a feed in front of the net for the first SMU goal at 24:38, putting the hosts up 1-0. Early in the second half Gabriel Costa sent a looping cross through the box to Jose Ortiz, and Ortiz deposited the cross nicely for the 2-0 Mustang lead at 52:29. Costa scored his team-high sixth goal of the season at 58:18, converting a penalty to cap the SMU scoring at 3-0.
