UCF secured a pair of nonconference wins on Thursday night, defeating Miami in five sets (25-23, 25-11, 24-26, 22-25, 15-9) and sweeping FGCU (25-19, 25-22, 25-23) in Boca Raton.
Claudia Dillon hit .571 with 10 kills to power the UCF attack in the Miami win, and McKenna Melville added 21 kills, nine digs and five total blocks against the Hurricanes. Amber Olson chipped in 28 assists and 13 digs for a double-double. Dillon hit a remarkable .909 with 10 kills and five blocks in the FGCU match, as Melville finished with 14 kills and six digs.
Cincinnati 3, Xavier 1 (27-25, 26-28, 25-16, 25-18)
Cincinnati rolled past rival Xavier in four sets, downing the Musketeers 27-25, 26-28, 25-16, 25-18.
Maria Mallon’s 19 kills and 15 digs led the way for Cincinnati in the win, and Shannon Williams added 19 kills with four digs for the Bearcats. Emme Madden logged a double-double with 28 assists and 12 digs for Cincinnati.
Oklahoma 3, SMU 1 (20-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-23)
Oklahoma responded from a first set deficit to defeat SMU in four sets on Thursday (20-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-23).
Kaylyn Winkler logged 10 kills on .400 hitting with seven blocks for SMU. Jadyn Bauss paced the Mustangs with 13 kills, eight digs and three block assists.
