Tulsa retook the lead at the top of The American with a dominant performance in its 2021 home opener, blasting No. 8/9 Missouri State 3-0 to move to 3-0 on the year. The Golden Hurricane outshot Missouri State 19-10 as three different players found the back of the net.
 
Ben Barkley got Tulsa on the board with the match’s first goal from Malik Henry-Scott at 19:57 for the 1-0 lead. Luke Jeffus chipped in an additional goal just before halftime on an assist from Chase Bromstedt at 43:35 for the 2-0 edge. Henry connected on an unassisted goal at 81:03 to cap the comfortable victory at 3-0.

A pair of rapid goals in the second half sunk UCF against No. 10/18 Virginia at NC State’s Dail Soccer Stadium. With the Knights ahead 1-0, the Hokies struck for two goals in 18 seconds to send Virginia Tech to a 2-1 victory.
 
Lucca Dourado picked up his third goal of the season for UCF, finishing an Anderson Rosa assist for the 1-0 lead at 36:04. Goals at 59:27 and 59:45 by Virginia Tech swung the momentum to the Hokies by the ultimate final score of 2-1.

Memphis suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 setback to the No. 23 team in the country, falling at Lipscomb 2-1 on Friday night in Nashville. The host Bisons broke through in the 44th minute with the contest’s first goal and added an insurance score in the 78th minute. Emanuel Santos got Memphis on the board with a goal in the 84th minute to trim the Tiger deficit to 2-1.
