IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has released its 2021-22 women’s basketball conference schedule. The league schedule features each of The American’s 11 members competing in a 16-game conference slate with two byes included.
The 2021-22 season marks year two of a 12-year media rights extension between The American and ESPN, with seven women’s basketball games set to air on linear television across the ESPN Networks.
All games aired on an ESPN network will also be available through the ESPN App, computers, smartphones, tablets and streaming devices to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider. All remaining conference-controlled games will be available on ESPN+, ESPN’s revolutionary digital streaming service that is available to nearly 15 million unique subscribers. Since The American’s inaugural season in 2013-14, all 11 women’s basketball members have made at least one appearance in a postseason national tournament. The conference has earned 16 bids to the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship and compiled a 44-13 record in the tournament.
Conference play begins for The American on Saturday, Jan. 1, when East Carolina travels to SMU and Cincinnati hits the road for Tulsa. American league games that will air on linear television during the upcoming season include: Temple at 2021 tournament runner-up UCF on Jan. 2 at 12 p.m. (ET) on ESPNU; Wichita State at defending champion South Florida on Jan. 9 at 12 p.m. (ET) on ESPNU; South Florida at UCF on Jan. 16 at 3 p.m. (ET) on ESPNU; South Florida at Houston on Jan. 30 at 4 p.m. (ET) on ESPNU; Tulane at South Florida on Feb. 6 at 12 p.m. (ET) on ESPNU; UCF at South Florida on Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. (ET) on ESPN2; and Houston at Tulane on Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. (ET) on ESPNU.
The 2022 American Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Championship returns to Dickies Arena in Fort Worth on March 7-10. The tournament games will air on the linear ESPN Networks and on ESPN+.
Official game times for all ESPN+ regular-season conference games will be determined at a later date.
