Houston's Theut, Tullos Sweep Weekly Volleyball Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, October 9.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Isabel Theut, Gr., MB, Houston
Theut had a monster week, helping lead the Cougars to a 2-0 weekend and a win over No. 23 UCF. The middle blocker had 5.06 points per set and 4.38 kills per set. In the battle for first place in The American against the Knights, Theut led the Cougar attack with 22 kills and hit .349 in the match. She added 1.38 blocks per set, as well.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Rachel Tullos, Sr., MB, Houston
Tullos was a force at the net for the Cougars, finishing the week with 2.38 blocks per set.  She helped Houston take over sole possession of first place in The American with her seven-block performance against No. 23 UCF, before turning around and adding 12 blocks against South Florida.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
 
McKenna Melville, Gr., OH, UCF
Melville continued her impressive season, averaging 5.57 points per set and 5.00 kills per set against Houston and Tulane. She added eight combined blocks on the defensive side.
 
Avry Tatum, Fr., RS, Cincinnati
Tatum had a career-high 22 kills against Temple and before adding 18 more against East Carolina. The freshman averaged 4.40 points per set and 4.00 kills per set on the week.
 
Kenzie Beckham, So., L, East Carolina
Beckham anchored the defense as the Pirates went 2-0 in The American. She finished with 5.00 digs per set, including 32 digs against Temple.
 
Bailey Houlihan, Jr., L, Memphis
Houlihan had two matches with over 20 or more digs to average 6.00 digs per set. She had 20 digs against Wichita State before finishing with 34 against Tulsa.
 
London Austin-Roark, Gr., MB, SMU
Austin-Roark helped guide the Mustangs to a 2-0 week in conference action, averaging 3.31 points per set while hitting .500 in both matches. She also averaged 1.00 blocks per set against Tulsa and Wichita State.
