Temple, Tulsa Earn Men's Soccer Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer awards for the week ending Sunday, October 16.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Alvaro Torrijos, Jr., MF, Tulsa
Torrijos played a part in all three goals for the Golden Hurricane in the 3-0 win over Memphis. He assisted on the first two goals, before scoring the final goal of the match in the 60th minute.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Mariano Fazio, Sr., D, Tulsa
Fazio anchored the backline for Tulsa, allowing just three shots in the match.  The senior defender also put on a point on board for Tulsa, scoring in the 53rd minute.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Eoin Gawronski, R-Jr., Temple
Gawronski earns his second Goalkeeper of the Week award after picking up a clean sheet against FAU. The redshirt junior came away with six saves in the 1-0 win.
 
Rookie of the Week
Rocco Haufglockner, Fr., D, Temple
Haufglockner anchored the Temple backline that helped come away with a clean sheet, while also adding a secondary assist on the game-winning goal.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
 
Curtis DeLeon, So., M, UAB
DeLeon helped UAB pick up their first win as a member of The American, scoring the game-winning goal in the victory over UCF.
 
Sean Suber, Sr., D, Charlotte
Suber finished with two assists for the 49ers and anchored the backline in a strong defensive effort to allow just four shots on goal.
 
Oscar Resano, So., F, South Florida
Resano came away with three goals on the week. He scored his first two in the midweek match against Stetson, before adding another in the draw against FIU.
 
Sean Karani, R-Jr., F, Temple
Karani scored the game-winning goal in the 69th minute to lift Temple past FAU.
 
Alex Lopez, So., GK, Tulsa
Lopez added a fourth clean sheet to his stat line after coming away with two saves in the win over Memphis.
 
Sergio Baena, Jr., MF, Tulsa
Baena scored the game-winning goal over Memphis and had a team-high five shots.
