Seven American cross-country squads competed over the weekend across the country, all showing success in their races.
Florida Athletic Invitational – UCF
The Knights won big at the FAU Invitational on Friday, picking up eight top 15 finishes in the 5k. Penelope Sosa led the way with a 17:55.3 time. The team averaged a time of 18:32.
Chile Pepper Invitational – Houston, Tulsa
The Houston women’s team placed 16
th overall and the men placed 23
rd overall at the Chile Pepper Invitational. Claire Meyer finished first for the Cougars, running a 17:12.5 5k time. For the men, Brandon Seagreaves finished 59
th overall with an 8k time of 25:00.3.
Tulsa sent six runners unattached to the race, resulting in no team score for either the men or women. Chanel Muir finished the 8k with a time of 24:49.8, while Chloe McEachern led Tulsa in the 5k with a time of 17:47.9.
Notre Dame Joe Piane Invitational - SMU
SMU placed 19
th overall at the Notre Dame Joe Piane Invitational on Friday. Graduate transfer Alanis Robineau Fauvey led SMU in the race running a time of 17:23.7 -- good enough for 83rd in the large field of athletes.
Greater Louisville Classic – Memphis, Tulane, Cincinnati
The Memphis men’s team finished 11
th overall and the women placed 27
th. Zachary Wyatt crossed the finish line at 24:09.1 (34th) in the men's 8k, and Chloe Figgins paced the women, placing 36th with a time of 17:25.6 in the 5k.
For Tulane, Junior Bradley Makuvire was able to pull off a seventh finish running a 23:32.6. Senior Aaron Gilliam placed 11th coming in at 23:43. 2. On the women's side, senior Mackenzie Callahan was the top finisher to the Green Wave at 30th with a time of 17:17.7.
The Cincinnati men's team placed fourth overall with 172 points in the gold 8K-race, while the women's team finished 16th with 488 points in the gold 5K. Milo Greder placed third overall with a time of 23:21.7 in the 8k. On the women’s side, Maddie Walker posted a time of 17:09.4 to finish 21
st overall in the 5k course.
