Houston's Georgiades, UCF's Melville Claim Volleyball Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, November 13.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
McKenna Melville, Gr., OH, UCF
Melville claims her seventh Offensive Player of the Week award after averaging 5.75 points and 5.33 kills per set in the 2-0 week for the Knights.  Melville hit a combined .328 in the wins. She had 13 kills against rival South Florida and added 19 kills in the win over Cincinnati.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Kate Georgiades, Jr., L, Houston
Georgiades helped Houston tie a program-record with their 17th straight win. The libero was all over the court, finishing with 8.33 digs per set in the two wins.  She anchored the defense with 50 total digs on the week, including 34 in the sweep over Tulsa.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
 
Amber Olson, Gr., S, UCF
Along with pacing the Knights offense with 8.33 assists per set, Olson was formidable on defense, as the setter averaged 1.00 blocks per set and 3.00 digs per set.
 
Abbie Jackson, Sr., OH, Houston
Averaging 5.25 points per set and 4.83 kills per set, Jackson helped lead Houston to a 2-0 week and stay atop The American volleyball standings.
 
Celia Cullen, Jr., S, SMU
Cullen paced the Mustang offense to a tune of 12.00 assists per set. As a team, SMU hit .257 in wins over East Carolina and Temple.
 
London Austin-Roark, Gr., MB, SMU
Austin-Roark averaged 1.33 blocks per set for the Mustangs, finishing with four blocks in both matches against East Carolina and Temple. She added 2.17 kills per set.
 
Natalie Foster, So., MB, Wichita State
Getting work done on both the offensive and defensive side, Foster scored 4.57 points per set while hitting .533 and added 1.00 blocks per set.
