FIU Clinches Top Seed for 2022 American Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship

IRVING, Texas After coming down to the final matches of the season, the 2022 American Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship field is set. In their first year in the league, FIU claimed The American regular-season crown and the No. 1 seed for the tournament with a 1-0 win over Florida Atlantic on Wednesday night.
 
The tournament features a single-elimination formation with the first round on Sunday, Nov. 6. FIU (11-4-1, 6-2-1 American) will host the semifinals on Nov. 10 and the final on Nov. 13.  All games will be streamed live on ESPN+. The tournament champion will earn the league’s automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship.
 
In the first-round matchups, No. 3 seed South Florida (6-5-4, 5-1-3 American) will host No. 6 seed Charlotte (9-4-2, 3-4-2 American), while No. 4 seed Tulsa (9-2-2, 5-2-1 American) will host No. 5 seed Memphis (8-4-4, 5-3-1 American). SMU (9-4-1, 5-3 American) is the No. 2 seed and earned a first-round bye alongside No. 1 seed FIU.
 
Charlotte claimed the No. 6 seed over Florida Atlantic due to the goal differential tiebreaker.
