IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, November 20.
Offensive Player of the Week
McKenna Melville, Gr., OH, UCF
For an eighth time this season, Melville has earned Offensive Player of the Week honors after averaging 7.75 points per set and 6.67 kills per set for the Knights. She was also active on the defensive side, ending the week with 4.00 digs per set and 1.00 blocks per set. She had double-doubles in both matches against East Carolina and Temple.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kate Georgiades, Jr., L, Houston
Georgiades finished the week with two 20 dig performances for the Cougars, averaging 6.14 digs per set. She had 23 digs against Memphis and 20 digs against SMU, while going a perfect 31-for-31 in serve receive. She also added 12 assists and one ace as the Cougars set the program record for consecutive wins.
Weekly Honor Roll
Angeles Alderete, Fr., OH, East Carolina
Alderete averaged 5.29 points per set while hitting .253 on the week. She had 23 kills against in the win against South Florida.
Bailey Houlihan, So., L, Memphis
Houlihan dug at an impressive rate, finishing with 7.67 digs per set against Houston and Tulane. In the win against Tulane, she finished with 24 digs.
Jamison Wheeler, So., OH, SMU
Wheeler scored 6.00 points per set for the Mustangs, while hitting .341 on the week. She had 20 kills and 16 digs against #23 Houston.
Kayce Litzau, Jr., S., Wichita State
Litzau paced the Shockers with 12,38 assists per set, while putting players in position to hit a combined .298 on the week. She had 49 assists against Tulsa and 50 assists against Cincinnati.
Natalie Foster, So., MB, Wichita State
Foster was efficient with her attacks, hitting .566 on the week while averaging 4.13 kills per set. She had 16 kills against Tula and 17 kills against Cincinnati.
