HOUSTON -- Braylon Braxton threw three touchdown passes - two to JuanCarlos Santana - as Tulsa overcame an early deficit to beat Houston Saturday at TDECU Stadium.
Braxton helped Tulsa erase a 17-6 deficit midway through the second quarter as he connected with Keylon Stokes for a 1-yard touchdown with 3:58 left in the first half, and his 37-yard TD run with 23 seconds left allowed the Golden Hurricane to stay within four at the break at 24-20.
Braxton connected with Santana for a 52-yard TD to start the third quarter, giving Tulsa its first lead of the game.
After Houston tied it at 27-27 with a field goal, Braxton found Santana again for a 25-yard touchdown to put Tulsa ahead for good. Zack Long added a 38-yard field goal with 2:51 left to make it a 10-point game, 37-27.
Braxton completed 25 of 43 passes for 316 yards and was Tulsa's leading rusher with 51 yards and a TD on 11 carries.
Santana, meanwhile, had six catches for 169 yards and the two key touchdowns.
Houston was led by Clayton Tune, who went 26-for-47 for 386 yards and two touchdowns, while Nathaniel Dell had nine receptions for 161 yards and a touchdown.
