IRVING, Texas – Houston and UCF both earned No. 5 seeds in the 2022 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship on Sunday night during the NCAA Volleyball Championship Selection Show on ESPNU.
Houston (28-3), the 2022 American Athletic Conference automatic qualifier, earned the No. 5 seed and will travel to Omaha, Nebraska to take on South Dakota in the first round on Friday, December 2 at 4:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. CT. The winner will face the winner of No. 4 Creighton/Auburn on December 3 at 7:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. CT. The Cougars won a program record 20 straight matches this year en route to a 19-1 conference record. It marks the first time since 2000 that Houston has made it to the NCAA Tournament.
UCF (27-1), who shared the American Athletic Conference title with Houston, earned the No. 5 seed in the tournament and will travel to State College, Pennsylvania to take on Yale in the first round on Friday, December 2 at 5:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. CT. The winner will face the winner of No. 4 Penn State/UMBC on Saturday, December 3 at 6:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. CT. This is the Knights 13
th all-time NCAA tournament berth and have won 15 straight matches while posting a 19-1 record in conference play.
