IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly women’s lacrosse honors for the week-ending February 13.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ATTACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Gabby Fornia • Gr. • Vanderbilt • Mount Laurel, N.J.
Fornia figured in eight of Vanderbilt’s 18 goals as the Commodores opened the 2022 season with an 18-13 win against Liberty. Fornia assisted on the first two goals of the game to give Vanderbilt a lead it would not relinquish as she finished with two goals and six assists against the Flames. Fornia extended her American Athletic Conference career record to 114 assists.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
Nicole LeGar • Gr. • East Carolina • Eldersburg, Md.
LeGar paced East Carolina to a 13-4 season-opening win against Radford, scoring three goals as part of the Pirates’ 9-1 first-quarter run that effectively put the game out of reach after 15 minutes. In addition to her hat trick, LeGar had three draw controls, a ground ball and a caused turnover and reached the 100-career-points milestone (74g, 26a).
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Annie Carroll • G • Gr. • Temple • Yardley, Pa.
A transfer from UConn, Carroll was outstanding in her first appearance in a Temple uniform as she led the Owls to a 16-5 win against Army. Carroll played 53:30 and allowed only three goals while making 12 saves. She had seven first-half stops to help Temple to a 9-1 halftime lead and added two ground balls and a caused turnover.

Emma LoPinto • G • Fr. • Florida • Manhasset, N.Y.
LoPinto led all scorers with eight points (6g, 2a) in her collegiate debut, helping the Gators to a 22-7 win against Kennesaw State in the 2022 season-opener. LoPinto scored four of Florida’s five first-quarter goals to stake the Gators to a 5-2 lead, while she added a pair of third-quarter goals to put the game out of reach. LoPinto’s six goals are the most by a Florida player in a season-opener, while she tied the Gators’ single-game record for freshmen.

Made 13 saves, including six in the fourth quarter, and had four ground balls in an 18-13 win against Liberty.
