IRVING, Texas - Temple goalie Annie Carroll was chosen as the first IWLCA Defensive Player of the Week following her performance in the No. 22 Owls' 16-5 season-opening win against Army.
Carroll had 12 saves, two ground balls and a caused turnover against the Black Knights in her first game in a Temple uniform. A graduate transfer from UConn, Carroll made seven first-half stops to help the Owls take a 9-1 halftime lead.
Carroll set Temple's single-game program record with her .800 save percentage.
