BUIES CREEK, N.C. – East Carolina scored five runs in the fifth inning highlighted by a RBI double by Ryder Giles and a two-RBI base knock from Lane Hoover securing a 10-3 win Tuesday night over Campbell at Jim Perry Stadium. With the win, the Pirates improve to 1-3 on the season while the Camels fell to 1-3.
 
The Pirates registered three hits and drew four walks in the fifth plating a season-high five runs and taking a 5-1 lead. With one away and Alec Makarewicz standing on first, Josh Moylan walked which was followed by Giles' RBI double that knotted the game at one all. Ryley Johnson loaded the bases with a two-out walk, then Zach Agnos walked pushing across Moylan. Hoover laced the first of his two hits with a two-RBI single down the left field line plating Giles and Johnson before Agnos scored on a passed ball.
 
C.J. Mayhue (1-0) earned the win allowing one run (earned) on one hits with three strikeouts in three relief frames. Starter Carter Spivey tossed two scoreless frames giving up four hits and fanning three. Joining Mayhue out of the pen on a staff night were Josh Grosz (1.0 IP, 1 R, 2 Ks), Danny Beal (2.0 IP, 1 R, 2), Trey Yesavage (0.1 IP, 1 K) and Skylar Brooks (0.2 IP, 2 Ks).
 
Jordan Irizarry (0-1) took the loss surrendering two runs (both earned) on one hit with two walks in one-third of an inning. Starter Ryan Chasse held the Pirates hitless through two frames while allowing a walk and striking out three. Jonathan Beymer also held the Purple and Gold hitless during his two frames with a pair of strikeouts. From there, the Camels used six additional arms in Cade Anderson (0.1 IP, 3 Rs), Ty Cummings (1.1 IP, 1 R), Peyton Brown (0.2 IP, 4 Rs), Garret Kangas (0.1 IP, 0 Rs), Trent Adams (1.0 IP 2 Rs) and George Ferguson (1.0 IP, 1 K).

UCF 3, North Florida 2 - Box Score
ORLANDO, Fla. – Ben Vespi worked out of a second and third jam in the ninth inning to defeat the Osprey and earn his first save of the year. UCF improves to 4-0 on the season, while UNF falls to 1-3. Zack Hunsicker earned his first win of the season, working 1.2 innings.
 
Chase Centala made his UCF debut on Tuesday, working 3.1 innings and allowing one unearned run. Cylis cox, Zack Hunsicker, William Saxton and Ben Vespi would all work an inning or more to finish the ballgame.
 
Gephry Pena would open the scoring in the first, lacing a first pitch triple to right field. Tom Josten would follow with a single up the middle to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. In the second, Pena would strike again, homering to center field to increase the UCF lead.
 
UNF would answer in the bottom of the third, when Aidan Sweatt singled to drive in a run in the third. The Osprey would tie the ballgame in the fifth, as Cade Westrbook singled up the middle. The Knights and Osprey would strand runners the next inning, before UCF had runners on second and third with two outs. Trent Taylor would scamper home on a wild pitch, but Noah Orlando was thrown out trying to double the lead.

Houston 3, McNeese 2 - Box Score
LAKE CHARLES, La. – Houston Baseball made the most of its opportunities offensively and rode a strong performance from its pitching staff, picking up its first victory of the season with a 3-2 win at McNeese on Tuesday night from Joe Miller Ballpark.
 
With the game tied at two, Houston (1-3) took the lead for good in the sixth, capitalizing on a pair of walks and a fielding error. With one away, shortstop Ian McMillan plated designated hitter Santiago Garcia (walk) with an RBI-fielder's choice.
 
Reliever Ben Sears (1-0) excelled in relief, striking out a career-high seven batters in 4.0 scoreless frames. The right-hander permitted just two hits without a walk. Friday night starter Nathan Medrano earned the save behind a hitless ninth alongside two strikeouts.

Houston starter Derrick Cherry tossed 2.0 scoreless innings, working around one hit and two walks while striking out three. Reliever José Torrealba needed just nine pitches to complete a perfect eighth inning while striking out a pair. 
 
Houston center fielder Samuel Tormos jump-started the scoring in the first, scoring left fielder Brandon Uhse (walk) and Zach Arnold (walk) on a two-run single while chasing McNeese starter Zane Zeppuhar, who allowed two hits, two runs and two walks while recording just two outs.
 
Trailing 2-0, McNeese (2-2) struck back in the third thanks to a game-tying two-run home run from designated hitter Tre' Obregon. Cowboys' reliever Davis Burgin (0-1) drew the loss, permitting an unearned run while walking two in 0.2 innings.

Oklahoma 6, Wichita State 2 - Box Score
NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma scored three times in the bottom of the first inning and never trailed, knocking off Wichita State 6-2 on a chilly Tuesday afternoon at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
 
The Sooners (3-1) used four hits to score three times in the first frame. After a single and a walk, Tanner Tredaway hooked a two-run double into the left field corner to open the scoring. Two batters later, Cade Horton lined an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0. Chuck Ingram cut down a runner at the plate to end the inning and prevent further damage.

Wichita State (0-4) sliced into the lead in the top of the third. Singles from Ingram and Ross Cadena put runners at first and third for Jack Sigirist, who lofted a high fly ball into foul territory down the right field line. Oklahoma outfielder Sebastian Orduno made a sliding grab near the wall, then fired to second to cut down Cadena for a double play. Ingram scored on the play, trimming the deficit to 3-1.

The Sooners added single runs in the seventh and eighth to extend the lead to 6-1. Tredaway drew a leadoff walk in the seventh and stole second, third, and home, then Graham singled in the eighth, stole second, and scored on a double from Blake Robertson. Oklahoma stole 11 bases in 11 attempts on the afternoon.

Seth Stroh plated Wichita State's final run of the afternoon with a run-scoring groundout to second. The Shockers hit into three double plays, including twin killings with multiple runners aboard in the fifth and the seventh.

Matt Boyer (0-1) took the loss in his Wichita State debut, allowing four runs over 4.2 innings. Jace Miner struck out three over 1.1 innings, and Adam Ketelsen fanned four as the Shockers notched 13 strikeouts on the day.

Braden Carmichael (1-0) picked up the win for Oklahoma, allowing one run on six hits over five innings. Trevin Michael snagged a four inning save, surrendering one run while striking out five.
