The SMU women's basketball team outscored ECU by 20 points in the second half for a 58-46 victory, sweeping the season series. With the win, which is only the third by the Mustangs in Greenville, N.C., the Mustangs improve to 10-7 overall and 4-1 in The American.
 
Trailing by eight points at halftime, 30-22, SMU scored the first five points of the third quarter and finished with a 15-5 advantage in the period. The Mustangs then scored 21 in the fourth quarter for the double-digit win.
 
Savannah Wilkinson led the Mustangs with 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for her 12th double-double of the season. Kayla White added 15 points, making three 3-pointers. SMU and ECU both made 19 field goals, but the Mustangs had a 7-6 advantage outside the arc and a 13-2 advantage in free throws made.
 
The Mustangs scored the first basket of the game with a 3 by Reagan Bradley. The Pirates took a 4-3 lead and held the advantage until the 6:52 mark of the second quarter. Wilkinson finished the run with a bucket, giving SMU a 22-21 lead. It was the last points of the half for the Mustangs. The second-half surge lifted the Mustangs to the win.
