Four American Teams Bound For 2022 Postseason WNIT

IRVING, Texas – Four women’s basketball teams from the American Athletic Conference are scheduled to continue the season in the field of the 2022 Postseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) presented by Triple Crown Sports. Tulane was the automatic qualifier from The American and will serve as a tournament host alongside SMU, with Houston and Tulsa also accepting bids into the tournament draw.
 
Tulane is expected to open the WNIT against Jacksonville State on March 17 at 7:30 p.m. (ET) in New Orleans, SMU welcomes Tennessee Tech to Moody Coliseum in Dallas on March 17 at 8 p.m. (ET), Tulsa travels to Denton to face North Texas on March 17 at 8 p.m. (ET) and Houston hits the road to face Louisiana Tech on March 17 at 7 p.m. (ET) in Ruston, Louisiana.
 
Tulane (20-9) is set to make its ninth all-time appearance in the WNIT and has compiled a 10-8 record in the tournament entering 2022. Houston (16-15) returns to the WNIT for the seventh time and is a combined 6-8 in previous trips. SMU (14-14) is back in the WNIT for the eighth time and has posted a 5-7 record in prior tournament starts. Tulsa (16-10) has recorded a 1-3 record in three prior trips to the WNIT.
