The last full week of nonconference play ended with three wins by American Athletic Conference teams Sunday as Vanderbilt, Florida and Cincinnati were successful.

NASHVILLE – Vanderbilt extended its win streak to four games on Sunday afternoon with a 13-11 come-from-behind win over Coastal Carolina at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex.
Karlie Bucci’s go-ahead goal with 2:33 left on the clock was her third of the day and gave Vanderbilt the lead for good. The Commodores outscored the Chanticleers 10-5 in the second half.
Coastal Carolina led by as many as three goals in the first half. Goalkeeper Claire Martell made 11 saves for the Chants in in the first half as Vandy managed just three goals at halftime.
Callie Sundin and Bucci scored two goals in the first five minutes of the third quarter to cut Coastal’s lead to 6-5, but the Chanticleers once again went in front by three, leading 10-7 going into the final 15 minutes.
Vanderbilt used a 6-1 fourth quarter to rally and keep the win streak alive. Bri Gross scored the first goal of the period followed by Bucci’s second goal with 9:49 on the clock.
Sundin tied the game at 10-10 with 9:03 remaining and Ellie Hilsabeck gave Vanderbilt its first lead at 11-10 with a little under eight minutes remaining.
After Coastal evened up the score at 11-11, Bucci completed her hat trick with just two and a half minutes remaining. Hilsabeck scored again with 58 seconds on the clock to put the game away at 13-11.
Gabby Fornia totaled five points on four assists and a goal. The fifth-year senior had recorded four or more points and all but two games this season.
NO. 11 FLORIDA 12, ARIZONA STATE 10
TEMPE, Ariz. – The 11th-ranked Florida lacrosse team toppled the Arizona State Sun Devils 21-10 on Sunday afternoon at the Arizona State Soccer Stadium.
The Gators improve to 6-4 on the year and are winners of four-straight, while Arizona State drops to 4-5 during the 2022 campaign.
“We really came out today with a lot of energy," said Florida head coach Amanda O'Leary. "Our offensive was clicking from the start and swung the momentum in our direction. It was a great opportunity for us to get some players experience against a strong Pac-12 team.”
Florida’s offensive was stellar on Sunday afternoon, led by a career-high seven goals from Danielle Pavinelli.
In total, the Gators had nine goal scorers – Ashley Gonzalez tallied a career-high four goals, followed by three from Paisley Eagan and two from Maggi Hall. Emily Heller, Emma LoPinto, Jill Quigley, Maggie Corbo and Kelly Schluederberg each found the back of the cage once.
Eagan recorded a team-high four assists on the afternoon, setting a new career-high, while LoPinto followed with three helpers of her own. Janine Suris, Hall, Heller, Gonzalez and Quigley each dished out one assist in the victory.
Florida won 14 draw controls, led by four from Shelton Sawers and three from Liz Harrison.
The Gator defense held Arizona State to 10-of-21 shooting and as a team, Florida caused nine turnovers, led by three from Emma Wightman.
In the cage, Sarah Reznick posted four saves with a .400 save percentage against the Sun Devils. Julia Hammerschlag also recorded a save during her 13+ minutes of play.
CINCINNATI 12, ROBERT MORRIS 8
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- The Cincinnati lacrosse team shook off a Robert Morris rally that tied it early in the third quarter, scoring three-straight over the next 11 minutes to ultimately win 12-8 on a snowy Sunday afternoon.
The Bearcats (6-6) have now won five of their last six road games, completing the weekend sweep after Friday's 16-12 win over Butler. The team also finished with its most non-conference wins since 2019.
UC also jumped out to a 5-1 lead with 12:31 left in the second quarter. Elizabeth Murphy was credited with a career-high four assists in the first half alone, upping her team lead to 15, while also scoring her ninth goal in the third.
Freshman Kylie Gioia (who scored twice against Butler) notched her first hat trick. Anna Platou's two goals marked her first with multiple for her career, giving her five for the spring. Alyssa Adams and Ava Goeller also scored twice, while Kylie Nause's 45th of the year opened the game. Next up for her in the Bearcat record books is Laura Simanski, who had 46 in 2010 and 47 in 2009, for third and second.
Cincinnati native and freshman Sophie O'Brien had nine saves for her third game above 50 percent.
UC extended its win streak over the Colonials to three after taking the 2016 and 2021 meetings and now lead 4-2 all-time.
