GREENVILLE, N.C. – Jacob Jenkins-Cowart recorded a pair of hits including a game-winning two-run home run in the seventh inning helping No. 25 East Carolina to home-and-home series sweep of instate foe Duke, 5-4, Tuesday night at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium. With the victory, the Pirates extended their win streak to seven games improving to 31-18 on the year, while the Blue Devils dropped to 20-27.
With the game tied at three-all going to the home half of the seventh, Jenkins-Cowart deposited a first pitch offering from Josh Allen over the left field wall for a 5-3 advantage. Lane Hoover singled with one out before scoring on Jenkins-Cowart's ninth home run of the season. RJ Schreck looked to have reeled the ball in just as he hit the wall, but ball was dislodged from his glove for the Pirates second home run of the contest.
Garrett Saylor (4-3) earned the win in relief tossing 3.2 scoreless frames with a walk and three strikeouts. Carter Spivey notched his fourth save of the year giving up a hit, walking one and fanning one in his inning of work. Merritt Beeker was solid in his second career start allowing a pair of unearned runs on three hits with two walks and a career-high five strikeouts in 3.1 frames. Trey Yesavage (0.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 BB) and Ben Terwilliger (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 2 Ks) also toed the rubber for the Pirates in relief.
Bill Seidl (2-4) suffered the loss giving up a run (earned) on one hit with one punch out in a third of an inning. Starter Adam Boucher gave up a run (earned) on a hit with three walks and two strikeouts in two innings. Including Seidl, the Blue Devils would use six pitchers out of the bullpen getting work from Matt Dockman (1.1 IP, 4 Hs, 2 Rs, 1 BB), John Natoli (1.2 IP, 1 K), Aaron Beasley (1.0 IP, 1 BB, 2 Ks), Josh Allen (1.1 IP, 3 Hs, 1 R, 2 Ks) and Jimmy Loper (0.1 IP, 1 K).

DELAND, Fla. (May 10, 2022) – The Bulls' hottest hitter, Jarrett Eaton, delivered once again on Tuesday night as the University of South Florida (26-22) opened a four-game road stretch with a 4-3 comeback victory in 10 innings at Stetson University (22-26).
Eaton finished the night 3-for-6 and delivered a two-out RBI-single in the top of the 10th inning which accounted for the game-winning run.
After recording his first collegiate win on Sunday, freshman Joey Volini picked up the win on the mound again Tuesday with a scoreless inning of work from the bullpen. Orion Kerkering struck out two batters and nailed down his third save of the season.
South Florida claimed the first lead of the ballgame on a sacrifice fly by Jackson Mayo in the top of the fourth frame. Stetson took the lead with a pair of runs in the sixth inning before the Bulls mounted their late comeback.

SUGAR LAND, Texas – The University of Houston continued its dominant stretch in the midweek and capped a season sweep against Sam Houston as part of the Don Sanders Cup with a 9-1 victory on Tuesday night at Constellation Field.
With the win, the Cougars (33-16) improved to 11-2 in midweek matchups and registered their sixth consecutive victory against Sam Houston (27-20) dating to the 2019 season.
Houston student-athletes named to the Sanders Cup All-Series Team included redshirt sophomore Zach Arnold, redshirt junior Ian McMillan, senior Ryan Hernandez, junior Brandon Uhse and junior Logan Clayton.
The Cougars struck for four runs in the fourth inning and four more in the sixth. Hernandez provided Houston a three-run cushion with a two-run home run in the fourth. The Boston native's ninth homer of the season was his third in the last four games and fourth in the last 10 contests.
Uhse added a two-run single in the fourth to continue his recent surge. The center fielder has seven hits and five RBIs over his last three games. McMillan swatted his eighth home run of the season and fourth in the last six games as part of a four-run sixth inning.

NEW ORLEANS – An eighth inning flurry from the bats of the Tulane University baseball team secured an 11-7 victory over South Alabama in the final midweek contest of the season inside Greer Field at Turchin Stadium Tuesday night. The Green Wave pushed four runs across the plate in the bottom of the eighth to break a tie ballgame stringing together three hits and three walks to post the crooked number on the scoreboard.
Junior Tyler Hoffman provided just what the Green Wave needed on the mound down the stretch dealing two scoreless frames in the eighth and ninth to earn his second victory of the season. Hoffman allowed only one hit and struck out a pair in his two innings of work.
The Tulane offense came to life against the Jaguars posting double figures in the scoring column and the hit column for the 12th time this season with 11 runs on 12 hits. The last time the Wave finished with double-digit hits and runs in a game came in the series-clinching 10-5 win over East Carolina (11 hits). Sophomore Simon Baumgardt paced the Green Wave bats with three hits, including two doubles, two runs driven in and two runs scored on the evening.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – In their final regular season home game of the season, the Memphis Tigers (21-25, 5-13) fell behind 3-0 after half an inning, tied the score in their first trip to the plate, but then gave up five runs in the second inning to the Arkansas State Red Wolves (11-32, 5-18) in an eventual 14-8 loss. Memphis cut the deficit to four with a five-run eighth but never pulled any closer.
After David Warren (0-3) retired the first hitter of the night, four straight Red Wolves reached base, as Brandon Hager, Jaylon Deshazier, and Jacob Hager each had an RBI that put Arkansas State in front 3-0 after half an inning.
Memphis responded against Brandon Anderson, as an RBI double by Ben Brooks plated Zach Wilson, while Jacob Compton followed with a game-tying two-run home run, as the game was knotted 3-3 after one frame.
The Red Wolves sent 11 men to the plate in a five-run second, as all four batters Warren faced reached base and eventually scored, while B. Hager greeted Logan Rushing with a three-run home run that put Arkansas State in front 8-3, a lead the Red Wolves never relinquished

CINCINNATI -- Sophomore outfielder Cole Harting launched two homers to help propel the Cincinnati Bearcats over the Northern Kentucky Norse, 12-6, Wednesday afternoon in front of a sell-out crowd at UC Baseball Stadium.
Graduate pitcher Ryan Steckline (3-0) got the win out of the bullpen for Cincinnati (20-25, 9-9). The left-hander went three shutout innings, giving up two hits, no walks and striking out four. Redshirt sophomore pitcher Alex Shea also pitched well, going two shutout innings while allowing one hit, walking one and striking out two.
Harting went 3-for-6 at the plate, supplementing his two home runs with three RBIs. Redshirt junior outfielder Paul Komistek added to Harting's awesome power-hitting performance by going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs along with two walks. Redshirt sophomore catcher Cam Scheler also chipped in for the Bearcats, going 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk and an RBI.
Miami 16, UCF 10 -

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – UCF Baseball (28-20) fell when scoring 10 or more runs for the first time this season, as the Miami Hurricanes (36-12) defeated the Knights 16-10 on Wednesday afternoon. The Knights and Hurricanes split the season series, winning at their respected ballparks.
UCF opened the scoring in the top of the first, as Gephry Pena led off with a triple down the line in right. Lex Boedicker singled to left field to score Pena from third and give the Knights a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, Andrew Sundean singled up the middle to score Ben McCabe and Noah Orlando, extending the lead to 3-0.
Miami answered in the bottom half, scoring five runs, highlighted by a grand slam to right field off the parking garage. The Canes went on to score the next nine runs, expanding their lead to 9-3, before UCF scored again.
