GAINESVILLE, Florida - Danielle Pavinelli scored five goals with an assist and Sarah Reznick made 12 saves as No. 7-seeded Florida took a 15-12 win against Jacksonville Sunday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
The Gators move on to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA tournament for the second straight year. They will face the winner of Sunday's second-round game between Maryland and Duke May 19.
Florida, which improved to 13-10 all-time in the NCAA tournament, would advance to the semifinals for the second time in program history, and the first time since 2012, if it wins its quarterfinal game.
The Gators raced to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter as Josie Hahn scored a pair of goals in the first 15 minutes. The Dolphins struck for the first two goals of the second quarter to make it 5-3, but Emma LoPinto scored the first of her two goals before Pavinelli took over for three straight to push Florida's lead to 9-3 midway through the period.
Pavinelli added two second-half goals, giving her 72 in the 2022 season.
Reznick, meanwhile, made six of her 12 saves in the fourth quarter, allowing Jacksonville to get no closer than four goals of the Gators.
The win was the 15th straight victory for Florida, matching a program record.
