WICHITA, Kan. – Three Wichita State pitchers combined on a one-hitter and the Shockers offense banged out a season-high 18 hits, as WSU routed #24 Oklahoma 18-0 on Monday night at Eck Stadium.

The win represents the largest margin of victory in the history of the series, as well as the most runs the Shockers have ever scored against the Sooners.

It was a record-setting performance on both sides of the ball, starting with a brilliant pitching performance from Caden Favors, Jace Miner and Robert Cranz. Favors allowed just one baserunner on a one-out hit-by-pitch in the second, but otherwise retired every hitter he faced over four hitless, scoreless innings. He handed the ball off to Miner (1-3), who continued the domination through the seventh by allowing just two baserunners on a walk and hit-by-pitch. In the eighth, Miner set down the first two men before Kendall Pettis smacked a double off the wall in left for Oklahoma's only hit of the game.

Miner fanned pinch-hitter Trent Brown to end the inning, then Cranz breezed through a 1-2-3 ninth to finish off the win. It's the first one-hitter for Wichita State since February 15, 2020 on the road at Northwestern State.

Offensively, the Shockers (20-32) set a new season high in hits for the second time in three games, including a new season-best five home runs. The scoring started in the third when Sawyre Thornhill singled in Seth Stroh and Jordan Rogers followed with a sacrifice fly that was caught at the top of the fence in left by a leaping Pettis. Payton Tolle made it 3-0 with a two-out RBI single to right.

All three runs were charged to Oklahoma starter Aaron Calhoun (0-1), who lasted just 2.1 innings.

Wichita State blew the game open in the middle innings with a six-run fourth, a four-run fifth, and a four-run sixth. The fourth inning featured a solo home run from Xavier Casserilla, a two-run shot from Brock Rodden, and a three-run homer off the bat of Tolle, extending the lead to 9-0.

UCF 10, Bethune-Cookman 2 (5 innings) - Box Score
ORLANDO, Fla. – UCF Baseball (31-21) scored six runs, all by two home runs, in the bottom of the third to defeat Bethune-Cookman (23-29), 10-2 in five innings. Zack Hunsicker improves to 3-1 on the season, allowing one run on one hit.

Bethune-Cookman opened the scoring in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead. In the bottom half, as Gephry Pena hit his seventh home run of the season to level the score at one a piece. In the third, UCF took the lead as Lex Boedicker and Cole Russo hit three-run home runs to push the score to 10-1.

The Wildcats added a run in the top of the fourth, homering to right field, before UCF added three more in the bottom half. Noah Orlando scored on a passed ball to extend the lead to 8-2, before Ben McCabe singled to left field to score Josten and Boedicker.

Ben Newton and Alec Makarewicz drew opening frame walks off Ryan Chasse before Jacob Starling laced a two-RBI double to right-center pulling ECU within one at 5-4. Josh Moylan reached on a Zach Neto throwing error which allowed Starling to score from second knotting the game at five all. After two quick outs, Lane Hoover walked putting runners on first and third before Jacob Jenkins-Cowart doubled down the right field line clearing the bases for a 7-5 advantage.

Wyatt Lunsford-Shenkman (1-0) earned his first collegiate win tossing two-thirds of an inning where he allowed a walk and struck out one. Ben Terwilliger posted his third save of the year allowing one run (earned) on one hit with five strikeouts in two frames. On a staff day, starter Merritt Beeker worked 1.1 innings giving up a hit with a walk and two punch outs before turning the game over to the bullpen. TAMPA (May 17, 2022) – The University of South Florida Bulls (26-26) scored twice in the bottom of the ninth inning and brought the winning run to the plate with one out, but the Stetson Hatters (24-28) held off the home team's rally for a 6-4 victory on Tuesday night at USF Baseball Stadium.

South Florida trailed 6-2 heading to the bottom of the ninth when Daniel Cantu recorded his second double of the night to spark a late comeback bid. Two batters later, Jackson Mayo walked and Ben Rozenblum followed with a two-run double to make it a two-run ballgame.

Bobby Boser was next with a walk to put the tying runs on base with only one out, but the Hatters held on by keeping both runners in place and recording the final two outs of the contest.

Mayo and Boser, both true freshman, each homered for USF in the fifth inning.

Ohio State 5, Cincinnati 3 - Box Score
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Its power numbers at the plate were not lacking, but Cincinnati's three homers on the day were not enough to bring the Bearcats a win as they fell, 5-3, to the Ohio State Buckeyes on Tuesday.

Graduate pitcher Ryan Steckline (3-1) took the loss on the mound for Cincinnati (21-28, 10-11). Redshirt sophomore pitcher Zach Segal was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going two shutout innings while allowing one hit, walking one and striking out one.

In the batter's box, the Bearcats were paced by redshirt sophomore JP Sponseller, who went 2-for-2 on the day with a home run, two walks and an RBI. Redshirt freshman infielder Kerrington Cross put together a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-4 with a home run and an RBI. Redshirt sophomore infielder Kameron Guidry also helped out for Cincinnati, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a home run and an RBI.

Rice 5, Houston 4 (12 innings) - Box Score
