IRVING, Texas – One day after capturing its third consecutive American Athletic Conference Championship, Florida was selected as the No. 7 seed in the 29-team NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
The Gators clinched their 11th straight NCAA tournament appearance by claiming The American’s automatic bid Saturday and were rewarded with one of the eight host sites for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Championship.
Florida will begin tournament play Friday, May 13, at 5 p.m. ET against Mercer at Donald R. Dizney Stadium in Gainesville. A win would send the Gators to a second-round matchup against either Jacksonville or Stanford.
Florida was a 19-5 winner against Mercer March 30, while the Gators took a 12-6 win against Jacksonville April 27.
The Gators take a 13-game winning streak into the NCAA tournament, trailing only 18-0 North Carolina for the longest winning streak nationally.
