FIU, Charlotte, Memphis Take Weekly Men's Soccer Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer awards for the week ending Sunday, September 18.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Stephen Afrifa, Sr., F, FIU
In the first American Athletic Conference match for FIU, Afrifa helped the Panthers take down No. 10 Tulsa by scoring two goals in the 3-0 win over the Hurricane.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Lasse Laursen, So., D, Charlotte
Laursen played all but five minutes in the two clean sheet victories for the 49ers last week. Charlotte gave up just six total shots on goal as the 49ers completed their fifth straight clean sheet.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Colin Welsh, So., GK, Memphis
Welsh helped the Tigers start 1-0 in conference play as he came away with five saves and a clean sheet in the win over No. 12 SMU.
 
Rookie of the Week
Alberto Cruz Jr., Fr., F, Memphis
Cruz came through for the Tigers in the 64th minute as the freshman scored the game-winning goal in the 1-0 win over No. 12 SMU.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
 
Lucca Dourado, Jr., F, UCF
Dourado scored two goals in the win at Temple, helping the Knights begin conference play with a win.
 
Brad Dildy, Fr., D. Charlotte
Dildy helped the backline allow just six total shots on goal in the two wins for Charlotte last week, while the freshman also added two assists.
 
Alex Willis, Gr., F, Charlotte
Willis added two more goals to his season total, while also finishing the week with one assist.
 
Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos, So., F, Memphis
Rodrigues dos Santos assisted on the game-winning goal for the Tigers in the 1-0 win over No. 12 SMU.
 
Sawyer Koza, Fr., D, Temple
Koza scored the first two goals of his career last week, both coming in the win over Saint Peter’s.
