The Temple Owls men's soccer team defeated No. 10 and defending NCAA National Champions Syracuse on Tuesday night, 2-1 in Syracuse. Rocco Haeufgloeckner's 89th minute goal secured the win for the Owls, marking the first win over a top 10 team since 2021.
The match remained scoreless for much of the first half until Lleyton Imparato found the net in the 36th minute. The Owls capitalized on a loose ball, with Tessho Kobayashi finding Imparato for his first assist of the season.
The Orange knotted things up at one with a goal in the 86th minute. Hauefgloeckner fired home the game winner less that 90 seconds later for his first collegiate goal, off an assist from Felix Ewald.
UAB will host Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday, October 1 at 8 p.m. before conference play starts back up on Friday when Charlotte hosts Tulsa.
