IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the weekly women’s soccer honors for the seventh week of the season.
Offensive Player of the Week
Mya Jones, 5th, M, Memphis
Jones scored both Tiger goals in a 2-1 win over SMU in a key conference contest on Thursday night. Jones opened the scoring in the match in the 11th minute and just over three minutes later, tallied again to double the Memphis lead.
Defensive Player of the Week
Abby Sowa, Jr., D/M, East Carolina
Sowa helped lead the Pirate defense to a shutout at South Florida by only allowing three shots on goal. The junior also converted a penalty kick goal in the 77th minute in the 2-0 victory on Thursday.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Maddie Ogden, Sr., North Texas
Ogden kept a clean sheet and made three saves as the Mean Green earned a 2-0 road victory at UTSA. The senior also became the first North Texas goalkeeper to score a goal, scoring on a free kick from near midfield.
Rookie of the Week
Lucy Fazackerley, D, East Carolina
Fazackerley aided the Pirate defense to a shutout against South Florida and scored the game-winning goal in the 41st minute of a 2-0 win.
Weekly Honor Roll
Kristy Campbell, Gr., D, Charlotte
Campbell aided the 49er defense in only allowing three shots on goal in a 3-0 win over Temple. She also assisted on the second goal.
Tash Hudson, Sr., F, Charlotte
Hudson scored two goals in a 3-0 win over Temple on Thursday.
Sofia Voldby, Jr., M, Florida Atlantic
Voldby scored for the Owls just 17 seconds into a 1-1 draw with UAB on Thursday.
Kaylie Bierman, Jr., GK, Memphis
Bierman recorded four saves in a 2-1 Tiger win against SMU on Thursday.
Jordan Frederick, So., F, Tulsa
Frederick scored the game-winning goal and provided an assist in Tulsa’s 2-1 win over Rice on Thursday afternoon.
