PHILADELPHIA - Preston Stone threw for 300 yards and two touchdowns and added a rushing TD as SMU rolled to a 55-0 win against Temple Friday night at Lincoln Financial Field. 

The Mustangs (5-2 overall, 3-0 American) built a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and took a 24-0 lead into halftime before a 67-yard punt return touchdown by Roderick Daniels Jr. broke the Owls' back just 44 seconds into the third quarter.

Temple (2-6, 0-4), which was playing without starting quarterback E.J. Warner for the second consecutive game, saw its best chance to score came early in the second quarter when the Owls had first-and-goal from the 1-yard line and trailing 14-0. But the Mustangs, who entered the game as the American Athletic Conference leader in scoring defense and total defense, denied Temple on two runs and a pass attempt before Elijah Chatman delivered a sack for a 9-yard loss on fourth down.

Jordan Hudson had six receptions for 82 yards and two touchdowns, leading a group of 10 Mustang players with at least one reception. Jordan Knighton was the leading rusher with 64 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.

Stone completed 23 of 36 passes and added 25 rushing yards before yielding to Kevin Jennings, who went 5-for-6 for 58 yards and a touchdown. 

Temple quarterback Quincy Patterson finished 6-for-14 for 47 yards as no Owl reciever had more than two receptions. 

SMU finished with a 563-131 advantage in total yards, gained 35 first downs, converted 10 of 15 third downs and held Temple to 0-for-12 on third down attempts.
