IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the weekly women’s soccer honors for the penultimate week of the regular season.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Kayla Fernandez, Sr., M, Tulsa
Fernandez recorded five points in a 2-0 week for the Golden Hurricane. She scored the game-winning goal in the third minute and added an assist in a 5-0 win over Temple, then assisted on the first goal and the game-winning goal in a 4-2 come-from-behind victory over UAB.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Madison Schwartzenberger, Jr., M, South Florida
Schwartzenberger led the Bulls defense that did not allow a shot on goal at UTSA, while she scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute of Sunday’s 1-0 win over the Roadrunners.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Lexi Gonzalez, Sr., Florida Atlantic
Gonzalez recorded two clean sheets last week, making 11 saves in a scoreless draw at UTSA on Thursday before claiming three saves in a 1-0 win at Rice on Sunday.
 
Rookie of the Week
Honoka Hamano, M, Memphis
Hamano recorded six points in two Tiger wins last week. She scored against UAB on Thursday before adding a goal and two assists against Temple on Sunday.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
Abby Sowa, Jr., D/M, East Carolina
Sowa and the Pirate defense allowed three shots on goal in a 1-0 win at SMU on Thursday before she converted the game-tying penalty in the 77th minute in a 2-2 draw at North Texas on Sunday.
 
Sofia Voldby, Jr., M, Florida Atlantic
Voldby scored the game-winning goal against Rice on Sunday to clinch a spot in the American Championship for Florida Atlantic.
 
Mya Jones, 5th, M, Memphis
Jones recorded seven points on the week, scoring two goals against Temple and providing three assists against UAB.
 
Grace Stordy, Sr., D, Memphis
Stordy provided two assists and aided the Tiger defense to two shutouts and only one shot on goal against both Temple and UAB.
 
Ashlyn Fernandez, Jr., D, Tulsa
Fernandez and the Tulsa defense allowed three shots on goal against Temple in a 5-0 win, and she scored two goals in the come-from-behind win over UAB.
