IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the weekly women’s soccer honors for the eighth week of the season.
Offensive Player of the Week
Signe Markvardsen, So., D, South Florida
Markvardsen scored the game-winning goal for the Bulls in the 80th minute in a 1-0 win over UAB on Thursday. The sophomore also aided the South Florida defense to a shutout and only three shots on goal allowed.
Defensive Player of the Week
Peyton Annen, So., D, SMU
Annen led the Mustang defense to a shutout of UTSA with three shots on goal allowed. Annen also provided the game-winning goal in the 16th minute.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Lexi Gonzalez, Sr., Florida Atlantic
Gonzalez recorded nine saves and a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Charlotte on Thursday.
Rookie of the Week
Anna Hauer, Fr., F, Memphis
Hauer recorded a brace in the Tigers’ 2-0 win over Rice on Thursday night. She tallied in the 23rd minute and the 84th minute.
Weekly Honor Roll
Lucy Fazackerley, Fr., F, East Carolina
Fazackerley scored a goal and aided the Pirates to a 4-0 shutout of Temple on Thursday.
Jazmin Ferguson, Jr., D, East Carolina
Ferguson led the Pirate defense to a shutout of Temple with three shots on goal, while also adding a goal herself.
Molly Setsma, Sr., M, Florida Atlantic
Setsma scored the game-winning goal with 87 seconds left in a 1-0 win over Charlotte.
Bailey Wesco, Jr., F, North Texas
Wesco tallied both North Texas goals in a 2-2 draw with Tulsa on Thursday night.
Haylee Spray, Sr., D, Memphis
Spray and the Tigers defense recorded a shutout in a 2-0 win over Rice, allowing only two shots on goal.
