TAMPA, Fla. (AP) Chris Youngblood's 19 points helped South Florida defeat South Carolina State 96-52 on Thursday night.
Youngblood shot 6 for 9 (2 for 3 from 3-point range) and 5 of 6 from the free throw line for the Bulls (1-0). Selton Miguel scored 18 points, shooting 7 for 11, including 4 for 6 from beyond the arc. Sam Hines Jr. went 5 of 6 from the field to finish with 12 points.
Mitchel Taylor led the way for the Bulldogs (1-1) with 11 points and three steals. Caleb McCarty added eight points and two steals for South Carolina State.
Tulane 88, Northwestern State 71 - Box Score
NEW ORLEANS (AP) Kevin Cross scored 23 points as Tulane beat Northwestern State 88-71 on Thursday night.
Cross added eight rebounds and six assists for the Green Wave (2-0). Kolby King scored 20 points and added four steals. Collin Holloway had 18 points and shot 5 of 7 from the field and 8 for 8 from the line.
Ryan Forrest finished with 23 points for the Demons (1-1). JT Warren added 13 points for Northwestern State. In addition, Braelon Bush finished with 11 points.
Wichita State 71, Western Kentucky 61 - Box Score
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Kenny Pohto's 16 points helped Wichita State defeat Western Kentucky 71-61 on Thursday night.
Pohto also contributed 11 rebounds for the Shockers (2-0). Xavier Bell scored 14 points, going 3 of 8 and 8 of 10 from the free throw line. Harlond Beverly shot 5 of 12 from the field and 3 for 4 from the line to finish with 13 points.
Don McHenry finished with 12 points and two steals for the Hilltoppers (1-1). Western Kentucky also got 11 points and seven rebounds from Rodney Howard. In addition, Khristian Lander had nine points.
SMU 78, Lamar 67 - Box Score
DALLAS (AP) Chuck Harris had 18 points in SMU's 78-67 win against Lamar on Thursday night.
Harris was 4 of 9 shooting, including 1 for 4 from 3-point range, and went 9 for 9 from the line for the Mustangs (3-0). Tyreek Smith added 13 points while shooting 3 of 4 from the field and 7 for 9 from the line, and he also had seven rebounds and four blocks. Emory Lanier had 11 points and was 3 of 5 shooting (3 for 4 from 3-point range).
Cody Pennebaker led the way for the Cardinals (1-1) with 13 points and seven rebounds. Chris Pryor added 10 points for Lamar. Ja'Sean Jackson also put up nine points and two steals.
