Memphis, Temple Earn Road Victories Friday

Memphis and Temple earned road victories in American Athletic Conference men's basketball action on Friday, November 10.

Temple 75, Navy 68 - Box Score
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) Jahlil White's 18 points helped Temple defeat Navy 75-68 on Friday night as part of the Vetearn's Classic.

White also added 10 rebounds for the Owls (2-0). Hysier Miller scored 18 points while going 6 of 15 from the floor, including 3 for 9 from 3-point range, and 3 for 7 from the line, and added five rebounds and five steals. Matteo Picarelli was 4 of 12 shooting, including 4 for 10 from 3-point range, and went 5 for 6 from the line to finish with 17 points.

Austin Benigni finished with 13 points for the Midshipmen (0-2). Donovan Draper added nine points, 12 rebounds and four steals for Navy. Kam Summers also had nine points.

Memphis 70, Missouri 55 - Box Score
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) Jahvon Quinerly scored 18 points, David Jones had a double-double, and Memphis dominated the second half in a 70-55 victory over Missouri on Friday night.

Missouri led 33-26 at halftime, but Memphis quickly caught up in the second half. A 10-0 run over a stretch of 4-plus minutes led to a 48-38 lead for Memphis with 12:30 remaining.

Only four players made a basket for Missouri in the second half, as the Tigers shot 5 for 26 (19.2%) from the field. Memphis shot 51.6% in the second half and outscored Missouri 44-22.

For the game, Memphis shot 43.5% and Missouri shot 32.1%.

Quinerly made 7 of 10 shots from the field and added eight rebounds, five assists and three steals. Jones had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Jaykwon Walton scored 13 points and Jordan Brown added 12 off the bench.

Sean East II led Missouri with 14 points. He played 38 minutes in the game but did not attempt a shot in the second half. Noah Carter added 10 points.

Liberty 71, Charlotte 59 - Box Score
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) Kyle Rode's 20 points helped Liberty defeat Charlotte 71-59 on Friday night.

Rode shot 8 for 14, including 4 for 8 from beyond the arc for the Flames (2-0). Brody Peebles shot 5 for 8, including 2 for 4 from beyond the arc to add 13 points. Kaden Metheny shot 4 for 9, including 1 for 4 from beyond the arc to finish with nine points.

Igor Milicic Jr. led the 49ers (1-1) in scoring, finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Nik Graves added 12 points for Charlotte. In addition, Daylen Berry had 10 points.

Minnesota 102, UTSA 76 - Box Score
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Dawson Garcia scored 22 points and Isaiah Ihnen never missed from the floor and scored 20 points and Minnesota throttled UTSA 102-77 on Friday night.

Minnesota never trailed and built a 54-30 lead at halftime.

Garcia made 7 of 14 shot attempts and all seven of his foul shots. Ihnen went 7-for-7 shooting - including 5 for 5 from 3 - only missing 1 of 2 foul shots. Reserve Cam Christie scored 18 points, Joshua Ola-Joseph scored 12 and reserve Mike Mitchell Jr. 11 for the Golden Gophers (2-0).

Minnesota shot 30 for 55 (54.5%) including 14 for 29 (48.3%) from 3-point range.

Dre Fuller Jr. scored 16 points and collected nine rebounds for UTSA (1-1). Additionally, reserve guard PJ Carter scored 15 points, Adante Holiman 14 and Trey Edmonds 12 for the Roadrunners.

Harvard 89, Rice 76 - Box Score
HOUSTON (AP) Chandler Pigge's 23 points helped Harvard defeat Rice 89-76 on Friday night.

Pigge had five rebounds for the Crimson (2-0). Malik Mack scored 20 points while shooting 6 for 16 (2 for 7 from 3-point range) and 6 of 7 from the free throw line, and added eight assists and three steals. Chisom Okpara shot 5 of 12 from the field and 6 for 9 from the line to finish with 17 points, while adding seven rebounds.

Mekhi Mason finished with 20 points and five assists for the Owls (1-1). Anthony Selden added 18 points for Rice. Max Fiedler also put up 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

Clemson 77, UAB 76 - Box Score
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) Chase Hunter knocked down a pair of free throws with three seconds left and Clemson used a late rally to earn a 77-76 win over UAB in an Asheville Championship semifinal on Friday night.

The win pulls Clemson even in the all-time series, 2-2. The Tigers will play Davidson, a 64-61 winner over Maryland, for the tournament title on Sunday. UAB will play the Terrapins for third place.

The Blazers held a nine-point lead, 67-58, after Alejandro Vasquez scored at the basket with 7:01 left. Ian Schieffelin answered with a dunk with 6:49 to play and added a free throw for the three-point play to cut the lead to six. Hunter and Chauncey Wiggins each drilled a 3-pointer to pull Clemson even, 67-67 and Schieffelin added a 3 and PJ Hall scored at the basket to complete a 14-0 run to go up 72-67.

Efrem Johnson and Eric Gaines each answered with a 3 to put the Blazers up, 73-72 with just under a minute to play. Hall turned a three-point play with :29 left, but Johnson hit from deep with :09 remaining for a 76-75 UAB lead. Hunter got to the line to retake the lead and Gaines missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Hall was 11 of 18 from the field to lead Clemson (2-0) with 27 points and nine rebounds. Hunter was 3 of 4 from the line for the game and added 16 points.

Gaines finished with 18 points, four steals and three assists to lead UAB (0-2). Johnson was 3 of 5 from distance and added 17 points and Vasquez contributed 11.
