Memphis Advances to NCAA Third Round with 3-2 Win over Notre Dame

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas -- No. 6 seed Memphis advance to the third round of the 2023 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship with a 3-2 win over No. 3 seed Notre Dame on Friday, November 17.

With the win, the Tigers (20-1-0) moves on to take on the winner of Pitt and Arkansas on Sunday, November 19.

Finley Lavin opened the scoring for Memphis in the 16th minute before the Fighting Irish equalized just before halftime on a goal by Meg Mrowicki.

The Tigers then scored two goals 90 seconds apart in the 76th and 77th minutes off goals by Sarola Miller and Ashley Henderson. 

Notre Dame cut the lead to one two minutes later when Maddie Mercado scored, but the Tigers were able to prevent Notre Dame from firing off a shot on goal the final 11 minutes of the match to advance.
