The SMU Mustangs swept North Texas on Friday night in Dallas to secure the 2023 American Athletic Conference West Division and Regular Season Championship. With the win, the Mustangs earned the automatic qualifier for The American  for the NCAA Tournament. South Florida clinched a share of the East Division with a sweep over Florida Atlantic earlier in the day.
