DALLAS, Texas-- No. 6 SMU men's soccer defeated Denver 2-1 at Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium on Sunday night to advance to the Third Round of the NCAA Championship.

With the win, the Mustangs (12-3-5, 7-0-1 American) advance to play Oregon State on Saturday, November 25 at 8 p.m. ET.

Bailey Sparks opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, scoring his second goal of the season off an assist from Mads Westergren to put the Mustangs on top.

Jose Ortiz douibled the Mustang lead with an unassisted goal in the 39th minute.

The Pioneers would cut the lead in half with a goal in the 67th minute, but that would be all they could muster. 

The SMU defense held Denver in check for much of the night, holding the Pioneers to just two shots on goal.
