UTSA Earns Road Win at UT Arlingon

UTSA 70, UT Arlington 66 - Box Score
 Sophomores Maya Linton and Sidney Love starred as the UTSA women's basketball team collected a 70-66 victory over UT Arlington in nonconference action inside the College Park Center on Saturday. Linton recorded the 'Runners first double-double of the season to the tune of 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Love logged a career-high 26 points. Additionally, UTSA has opened the season 3-1 against NCAA Division I opponents for the first time since taking down UTRGV, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and Austin Peay in 2012. 

The Roadrunners (3-1) topped the Lady Mavs (0-4), with Linton becoming the first member of the squad to boost double-digit figures in multiple categories since teammate Elyssa Coleman amassed 10 points and 11 boards against Rice on March 9, 2023. Love, meanwhile, used 24 second-half points to reach a new personal benchmark, going 6-for-10 and converting 13-of-15 free throws in the process. Also delivering solid performances, senior Kyra White dished out six assists, and freshman Idara Udo scored nine with seven boards. 

As a team, UTSA shot 42% from the field and 69% from the charity stripe while outrebounding the Lady Mavs 46-30. Aiding the 'Runners on the glass, Coleman hauled in eight boards and White six. 

(RV) Arizona 90, Memphis 67 - Box Score
The University of Memphis women's basketball team opened the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament Saturday afternoon against RV/RV Arizona. The Tigers hung with the Wildcats through the first two quarters, but sharp shooting from the Wildcats in the second half was the Tigers' downfall as they suffered the 90-67 loss.

Kai Carter and Alasia Smith led the team in scoring with 22 points apiece and Smith brought down a game-high 11 rebounds. As a team, Memphis shot 38-percent from the field and forced Arizona into 23 turnovers.

Oral Roberts 93, Tulsa 87 - Box Score
The Tulsa women's basketball team entered the Mabee Center Saturday looking to protect the Mayor's Cup and move to 4-0 on the year, but a slow fourth quarter doomed the Golden Hurricane to a 93-87 setback to the cross-town rival Oral Roberts Golden Eagles.

The Hurricane falls to 3-1 in the first loss of the season, while ORU moves to 3-2 and takes the Mayor's Cup for the first time since the 2017-18 season.

Tulsa averaged 24.7 points per quarter and led 74-68 heading into the fourth period, where the Hurricane was held to 13 points while Oral Roberts' 25 points helped the Golden Eagles surge past TU late. ORU broke the 87-87 tie at 1:20 and ran away with the game from there.

Delanie Crawford put up a team-high 23 points for Tulsa, moving to four straight games with 20 or more points on the year. She shot 50 percent from the field (7-14), sank three shots from beyond the arch and went a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line.

#5 Colorado 84, SMU 69 - Box Score
SMU suffered its first loss of the season with an 84-69 setback against No. 5 Colorado on Saturday night in Moody Coliseum. Graduate guard Tiara Young led all scorers with 30 points.

Young's 30 points marked a career-high and put her in double figures for the fourth time this season. She tallied four rebounds, two assists, and a block. Chantae Embry turned in 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and a steal. 

Tamia Jones scored four points, grabbed four rebounds, and had a block, and Reagan Bradley finished with six points, four rebounds, and dished out three assists. Amirah Abdur-Rahim chipped in eight points, four rebounds, two blocks, and an assist. TK Pitts finished with four points and a pair of steals. Jiya Perry scored three points. 

Eastern Kentucky 68, UAB 64 - Box Score
The UAB women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday night as Eastern Kentucky defeated the Blazers 68-64 at Alaska Airlines Arena in Anchorage.

Mia Moore had her first career double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds, and added four assists and four steals, but Eastern Kentucky had four players score in double figures, led by Antwainette Walker with 20.

Tracey Bershers had 13 points and Denim DeShields 11 in the loss.
