GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) Bobby Pettiford Jr. knocked down a half-court 3-pointer at the buzzer to give East Carolina an 85-84 victory over Kennesaw State on Tuesday night.
Pettiford dribbled the floor and then heaved the game winner from near the logo. RJ Felton scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Pirates (4-2). Pettiford scored 18 points, shooting 6 for 10 (4 for 7 from 3-point range) and 2 of 3 from the free-throw line. Ezra Ausar had 14 points.
Terrell Burden led the Owls (4-2) in scoring, finishing with 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Simeon Cottle added 16 points, four assists and five steals for Kennesaw State. Jamel King also put up 14 points.
UAB 58, Middle Tennessee 57 - Box Score
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) Javian Davis had 21 points in UAB's 58-57 victory against Middle Tennessee on Tuesday night.
Middle Tennessee's Jacob Johnson scored the last bucket of the game with 1:11 remaining.
Davis shot 8 of 14 from the field and 5 for 7 from the line for the Blazers (3-2). Eric Gaines scored 10 points and Yaxel Lendeborg finished with nine.
Josh Ogundele led the way for the Blue Raiders (3-2) with 12 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Jestin Porter added 11 points and two steals for Middle Tennessee. In addition, Elias King finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. Johnson had nine points.
Indiana State 103, Rice 88 - Box Score
HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) Robbie Avila had 27 points in Indiana State's 103-88 win over Rice on Tuesday night.
Avila also contributed eight rebounds and eight assists for the Sycamores (3-1). Ryan Conwell was 5 of 11 shooting, including 2 for 5 from 3-point range, and went 3 for 3 from the line to add 15 points. Masen Miller had 15 points and finished 5 of 7 from 3-point range.
The Owls (1-3) were led in scoring by Travis Evee, who finished with 25 points. Rice also got 11 points from Camp Wagner. In addition, Mekhi Mason finished with 10 points.
