In the battle of the two division leaders, the SMU Mustangs came on top against East Carolina in a 3-0 win in Greenville.  SMU hit .256 for the match and had three players with double-digit kills in the sweep. The Mustangs are now 13-1 in The American and are on a nine-match winning streak. Elsewhere, Wichita State defeated North Texas 3-1, Rice defeated Tulane 3-1, and South Florida swept Temple in Philadelphia.
