CONWAY, Ark. – The University of Memphis baseball team went on the road for the first time this season and defeated Central Arkansas, 8-6, at Bear Field on Tuesday night. The Tigers won their fourth-straight game and improved to 7-2 to begin the season.

Austin Baskin got the scoring started when he hit a frozen-rope solo shot to left field in the top of the second to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Catcher Jonah Sutton knocked in another run on a sac-fly to center field and Brayland Skinner muscled up for a three-run, opposite-field homerun to make it a five-run inning.

Utility man Jake Curtis made his third overall appearance and first start on the mound for Memphis. He tossed three innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and struck out one. Glenn Green III made his third relief appearance of the season and picked up the win to move to 2-0. Green threw 2.1 innings, striking out three and retiring six-consecutive UCA batters at one point. He allowed just one earned run on a solo homerun and sports a 2.25 season ERA in four innings.

UCF 9, Bethune-Cookman 0 - Box Score
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Knights earned their fourth consecutive win on Tuesday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark with a 9-0 win over Bethune-Cookman.

Najer Victor, Dominic Castellano, Kyle Kramer, Zach Chappell, and Zack Austin threw the first combined one-hitter in UCF's shutout win since William Saxton, Ben Vespi, and Chase Centala did it April 3rd, 2022, against South Florida.

Victor got the start and looked sharp early on. He went nine up, nine down in the first three innings with five strikeouts and one walk.

Houston 8, Texas Southern 5 - Box Score
HOUSTON – Aided by 14 strikeouts from the Houston pitchers, the Cougars defeated Texas Southern 8-5 on Tuesday night at Schroeder Park.

An early explosive offense from Houston (3-5) was enough to move the Cougars to a 14-0 all time mark against the Tigers (7-3). Houston junior reliever Travis Phelps (1-0) earned his first win of the season working 2.0 innings with five strikeouts while sophomore pitcher Josh Ekness (0-0) came in for the final three innings of the game and tallied his first save of the year. Texas Southern's Domenic Martinez (0-1) was the pitcher of record for the Tigers and earned his first loss.

Duke 9, East Carolina 0 - Box Score
DURHAM, N.C. – An eight-run fifth inning proved the difference Tuesday night as Duke posted a 9-0 non-conference victory over No. 9 East Carolina at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. ECU drops to 5-2 with the setback while the Blue Devils improve to 6-2.

Jacob Starling, Cam Murphy and Cam Clonch were responsible for the Pirates' three hits while Alex Mooney went 3-for-4 and Jay Beshears drove in a quartet of runs for the home side.

Alex Gow (1-0) tossed four scoreless to earn his first win of the season on the mound, walking two and striking out a pair. Danny Beal (1-1) was saddled with the loss after allowing four runs on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts in one inning of work.

Florida State 7, South Florida 6 (13 innings) - Box Score
TALLAHASSEE (March 1, 2023) – The University of South Florida Bulls (3-6) had No. 16 Florida State (7-1) on the ropes Wednesday night at Dick Howser Stadium. South Florida scored twice in the top of the 13th inning, looking to tally its third Top 25 victory of the young season, but a pair of perfectly placed Seminole hits in the bottom of the frame saw the home team rally for a 7-6 win.

Six of USF's nine games this year have been against opponents ranked inside the Top 25.

Deadlocked at 4-4 since the eighth inning, the Bulls broke the tie with a pair of clutch hits in the 13th frame. Travis Sankovich doubled to lead off the inning and two batters later, Jackson Mayo gave USF a 5-4 lead with an RBI-single. Daniel Cantu added some insurance later in the inning with a two-out run-scoring hit to make it a 6-4 ballgame.

A one-out walk started the FSU rally followed by a flair down the right field line that narrowly dropped past a diving Drew Brutcher and resulted in an RBI-triple. Two batters later, with the winning runs on base, Caleb Pundsack relieved Chandler Dorsey and recorded a big strikeout for the second out of the inning. The next batter hit a high fly ball into no man's land behind second base which eventually dropped for the walk-off hit.

New Orleans 6, Tulane 5 - Box Score
NEW ORLEANS -- Tulane fell to New Orleans, 6-5, Wednesday evening.

Down, 5-3 in the eighth inning, Tulane (1-8) tied the game on a Jackson Linn 2-run home run that also scored Brennan Lambert, but Miguel Useche singled home Kasten Furr in the ninth to put New Orleans (4-4) back in front.

Teo Banks (0-1) took the loss for the Green Wave, while Nolan Daniel (1-0) earned the win for New Orleans and Matthew Maldonado earned his first save.
