Four American Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmers Selected for 2023 NCAA Championships

IRVING, Texas – Four American Athletic Conference women’s swimmers have been selected for the 2023 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, to be held at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, March 15-18.
 
Representing The American will be Cincinnati’s Joleigh Crye, FIU’s Christie Chue, Rice’s Arielle Hayon and SMU’s Luana Alonso.
 
Crye captured the conference title in the women’s 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 59.07, which ranks 16th on the NCAA Championship psych sheet. Her time was an American Athletic Conference Championship record mark.
 
Chue qualified for two events, including the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke. She finished second to Crye in the 100 breaststroke in 59.28 at the conference meet, 22nd in the nation, and is ranked No. 23 in the 200 breaststroke after winning the conference crown in 2:08.73.
 
Hayon and Alonso both qualified in the 100-yard butterfly after going 1-2 at the conference meet in 52.01 and 52.08. The duo will be seeded 30th and 36th at the national meet.
 
Individual swimmers selected for the NCAA Championships are also allowed to compete in events they secured an NCAA B Standard time in, up to a total of three events.
 
In addition, divers will qualify to the NCAA Championships through the NCAA Zone Diving Championships, which take place at five sites across the country from March 5-11.
