No. 3 East Carolina Defeats No. 6 Tulane, 69-58, in Quarterfinals of American Women’s Basketball Championship

FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 3 East Carolina defeated No. 6 Tulane, 69-58, in the quarterfinals of the 2023 American Women’s Basketball Championship Tuesday, March 7 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
 
The Pirates (21-9) advance to the semifinals to face the winner second-seeded Memphis Wednesday, March 8 at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
 
After being down 19 in the third quarter, the Green Wave (18-13) stormed back to tie the game at 48 with 7:42 left in the game, but the Pirates subsequently went on a 10-2 run and never looked back.
 
Amiya Joyner grabbed an American Championship-record 19 rebounds for the Pirates, who outrebounded the Green Wave  46-33 overall.
 
Micah Dennis led three Pirates in double figures with 17 points, while Synia Johnson recorded 16 and Morgan Moseley added 11 points with eight rebounds.
 
Kyren Whittington led all scorers with 21 points for Tulane.
