CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati redshirt junior Kameron Guidry smashed a three-run home run in the 10th to lift the Bearcats to a 7-5 win over Miami (OH) on Tuesday night inside UC Baseball Stadium.
Cincinnati (15-19, 3-3 AAC) trailed 5-4 in the bottom of the 10th. With runners on first and second with one out, Guidry stepped into the batter's box and smacked the second pitch he saw over the left field wall to walk-it off for the Bearcats. Guidry's heroics capped a 3-for-5, three-RBI night at the plate.
Sophomore Tommy O'Connor, making his career debut in left field, went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run to right field in the seventh. The three-run shot was the first of his career.
Redshirt junior Ryan Nicholson finished 2-for-5 with his 25th career home run, a solo shot to left center. Freshman Griffin Hugus went 3-for-4 with a career-high two doubles, one run scored and a stolen base.
Freshman starter Tommy Boba turned in a dominant performance, going five shutout innings of one-hit ball. He struck out a career-high nine batters – the most strikeouts by a Bearcat this season. Junior Max Bergmann (1-1) earned the win on the mound.
East Carolina 7, Old Dominion 3 -

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Early offense and a spectacular relief effort out of junior RHP Danny Beal allowed No. 9 East Carolina to coast past Old Dominion 7-3 Tuesday night in a non-conference contest at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium.
The Pirates (25-8) recorded their fifth-straight victory while the Monarchs (23-9) were unable to rebound from a home weekend series loss to Southern Miss. ECU out-hit ODU 9-7 and never trailed.
Beal enjoyed quite the night, notching a personal-best nine strikeouts in a career long five-inning outing while tallying his second save of the campaign in the process. Zach Root (3-1) turned in three scoreless frames with three strikeouts to earn his third win of the season. Landen Burch (2-1) was tagged with the loss after surrendering four runs on three hits in 2.0 innings of work.
Lane Hoover rapped out a season single game-high three hits, including his second home run of the campaign, adding three runs scored and two RBI to his ledger. Carter Cunningham also went yard during the evening as part of a 2-for-4 performance and scored two runs. No Monarch batter had more than a single hit.

TAMPA (April 11, 2023) – Three different Bulls combined for four home runs on Tuesday night as the University of South Florida (15-19) extended its winning streak to three straight with a 13-2 triumph over Bethune-Cookman University (17-14) at USF Baseball Stadium.
Bobby Boser tallied his second two-homer game of the season, while Daniel Cantu and Nelson Rivera also left the ballpark. Cantu has matched his career high with eight home runs and Rivera circled the bases for the first time this season.
Cantu's solo homer opened the scoring barrage in the bottom of the first inning on a ball that landed on top of the scoreboard in right-center field and was belted through winds gusting up to 20 MPH.
Cantu went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, recording his second four-hit game of the year. Drew Brutcher went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and matched his season high with three RBI.
South Florida plated at least one run in every inning but the fourth frame. The Bulls led 9-0 after the fifth inning before the Wildcats scored both their runs in the top of the sixth.
Lawson Gailey picked up his second win of the season on the mound with four shutout innings. Austin Grause, Tanner Mink, Chandler Dorsey and Caleb Pundsack each made scoreless relief appearances.
UCF 7, Stetson 1 -

DELAND, Fla. – The UCF baseball team started its week off with a 7-1 victory over Setson to put the Knights back in the win column on the road. A strong defensive performance and a career start from Cameron Leiter were key in the win.
Leiter went nine up, nine down to start the outing, rolling a double play to end the third inning. He threw 6.0 innings and allowed only one earned run and one walk. With seven strikeouts, he tied his single-game high and he also went a career-high 6.0 innings. Leiter earned his first career win.
Andrew Sundean opened the scoring for the Knights in the top of the second inning with a towering solo home run to center field, his sixth of the season. Sundean added another Knights run and an RBI on a bases-loaded hit by pitch to score Tom Josten, who had reached on a fielder's choice.
Cole Russo was hit by a pitch to lead off the fourth inning. Matt Cedarburg followed with a two-run home run to left field, knocking the first of his career and extending the Knights' lead to 4-0.
In the bottom of the fourth, three back-to-back singles loaded the bases and Landon Moran drew a walk for the lone Stetson run of the game. Leiter notched another strikeout and rolled a 4-6-3 double play to strand three, limiting the Hatters to one run.
The Knights' defense had a stellar game as UCF made no errors and turned four double plays, a single-game season-high.

HOUSTON – With a 14-3 win over Sam Houston State, Houston baseball head coach Todd Whitting recorded his 400th career win on Tuesday evening at Schroeder Park.
Whitting, who is in his 13th season as the head coach of the Houston baseball team, has been a part of 21 conference titles and competed in 17 NCAA Regionals, six NCAA Super Regionals and one College World Series during his coaching career. His accolades span across 27 years of coaching experience and include four Coach of the Year Awards. In addition to his achievements at the college level, Whitting has tutored 90-plus student athletes who have been selected in the MLB Draft and 25 who have gone on become Major Leaguers.
The Cougars (18-14, 4-2 American) were aided by a four run fifth inning followed by a six run sixth inning as Houston evened the season-long series with Sam Houston State (20-14) in the Don Sanders Cup. Houston's Brendan O'Donnell (2-0) secured his second win of the season tossing 1.1 hitless innings with one strikeout while the Bearkats Marshall Wales (1-4) took the loss.

OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Memphis baseball team rallied for four runs in the ninth inning on back-to-back-to-back home runs to defeat 2022 national champion Ole Miss, 11-9, on Tuesday night at Swayze Field. The win marked the first for the Tigers over the Rebels since 2017.
With the win, Memphis improved to 18-16 on the season. The Rebels fell to 18-14 on the year with the loss.
In the first at-bat of the game, Anthony Hansen launched a solo shot into the home bullpen in right field to give the Tigers an immediate 1-0 lead. The home run for Hansen marked his third of the season against Ole Miss, after going 2-for-4 with a pair of solo shots in the first matchup between the two teams on April 4.
Heading to the ninth down two runs, Hansen led the inning off with a single before Austin Baskin smashed a game-tying, two-run bomb to left field. Before the Tigers dug out had settled down, Logan Kohler went opposite field to give Memphis the lead with a solo shot and Cameron Benson followed suit with another solo home run. When the dust settled, Memphis led 11-9.
Dalton Kendrick came in and slammed the door in the bottom of the ninth to earn his NCAA-leading ninth save of the season and clinch the Tiger win.
LSU 11, Tulane 5 -

NEW ORLEANS – LSU, the nation's top-ranked baseball team, piled up 19 hits en route to an 11-5 win over host Tulane Tuesday evening on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
The Tigers improved to 27-5 overall, while the Green Wave fell to 9-24.
Bryce Collins (1-0) was credited with the win, hurling two and two-thirds innings, allowing two strikeouts and two walks.
Tulane's Jonah Wachter (1-3), one of 10 Green Wave pitchers on the evening, took the loss as he gave up three runs on six hits in one and one-third innings.
Tulane was led by third baseman Simon Baumgardt, who went 4-for-5 at the plate, with four RBI and two runs scored. He and first baseman Brady Marget also scored twice.
Oklahoma 8, Wichita State 1 -

NORMAN, Okla. -- Wichita State fell to Oklahoma 8-1 in a midweek contest on Tuesday afternoon at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
The Sooners (18-16) scored one run in the first, four in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the eighth to seize command, holding the Shockers (18-14) to a single run on seven hits. Payton Tolle provided the Wichita State offense with a solo home run in the top of the fourth that tied the game at 1-1, but Wichita State was unable to score again despite three more hits in the inning.
Tolle also doubled, joining Jaden Gustafson with multi-hit efforts on the evening. Nate Snead was excellent in his first career start for WSU, holding the Sooners without a hit over three innings of work. He allowed one unearned run, issuing one walk while striking out one.
Seven Shocker relievers followed Snead into the game, including the first appearance of the season for right-hander Patrick Dunn. Jace Miner, Michael Mulhollon, Matt Wilkinson and Nate Adler all had scoreless outings. Robert Cranz struck out four in 1.2 frames, matching a career best.
Carter Campbell (4-3) earned the win for the Sooners with two scoreless innings in relief, while Caden Favors (2-4) took the loss for the Shockers by allowing four runs following Snead into the game.
