CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati baseball team stormed back from a six-run deficit to win its series opener against Tulane, 12-9, on Friday afternoon inside UC Baseball Stadium.
The Bearcats (16-23, 4-6 American) scored seven runs in the bottom of the second while junior Cole Harting's 25th career home run was the go-ahead run in the fifth.
Redshirt junior Kameron Guidry continued his hot hitting for the Bearcats, going 2-for-5 with four RBI and two extra-base hits. He belted a three-run homer to right field in the second.
Redshirt junior Alec Jones finished 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run scored and a stolen base while redshirt junior Ryan Nicholson tied his career high with two doubles to go along with an RBI and one run scored. Sophomore Kerrington Cross added a home run to finish 2-for-5 with three runs scored. The Bearcats improve to 6-1 when hitting three-or-more home runs in a game.
Freshman Chase Horst (2-3) earned the win in 2.1 shutout innings in relief while senior Jackson Murphy picked up his first career save. Dylan Carmouche (3-6) took the loss for the Green Wave (11-27, 4-6).
Cincinnati scored 12 runs on 13 hits and left six runners on base while the Green Wave scored nine runs on 13 hits and stranded nine baserunners.

TAMPA – UCF defeated South Florida, 6-4, Friday night at USF Baseball Statdium in Tampa.
UCF improved to 22-16 and 4-6 in league play, while the Bulls fell to 16-23 (5-5 American).
Andrew Sundean had three hits and drove in three runs for the Knights, while Nick Romano added a solo home run.
Bobby Boser and Eric Snow hit home runs for the Bulls.
Ruddy Gomez (6-2) earned the win for UCF, allowing four runs in six innings, while Kyle Kramer pitched a perfect ninth for his eighth save. Hunter Mink took the loss for the Bulls, allowing five runs in 4.0 innings.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Junior starting pitcher Josh Ekness and senior reliever Maddux Miller combined for a one-hit shutout to give the Cougars an 8-0 win over Memphis at FexEx Park on Friday evening.
Ekness (2-2) threw his first quality start of the season tossing 6.0 innings while allowing the only hit in the bottom of the second inning. The right-hander earned his second win for the Cougars (22-16, 7-3 American) while Miller tossed three hitless innings for Houston while striking out a career-high five batters and earning his first career save. Memphis' (19-19, 3-7) Carson Stinnett (2-1) earned his first loss of the season throwing only 1.0 inning and allowing two runs to score.
Ekness and Miller combined for a one-hit shutout. It was the first time Houston has shut out a team since May 17, 2019, when the Cougars silenced UCF in the final regular season conference series.
The combined one-hitter from Ekness and Miller was the first time the Cougars have combined for a one-hitter since 2016 with Seth Romero and Tanner Lawson one-hit GWU on March 26.
Zach Arnold and Justin Murray extended their reached-base streaks to 34 straight games. Arnold has reached base in every single game he has played in while Murray has found his way on base in every game since his second Cougar appearance.
