WICHITA, Kan. – The University of Memphis baseball team won its series finale over No. 25 Wichita State, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon at Eck Stadium.
With the win, Memphis moves to .500 on the season (22-22, 5-10 American). The Shockers slipped to 26-17 (10-5) on the year with the loss.
The Shockers struck first when Payton Tolle connected for a two-run home run to put WSU up 2-0 in the first inning. Memphis responded with two runs of its own in the very next half inning. The Tigers strung together four hits and scored on singles by Shane Cox and Brayland Skinner.
In the fifth, Jake Curtis doubled to right-center field, driving in Skinner. A sac-fly by Austin Baskin brought home Brennan DuBose to give Memphis a 4-2 lead. The Tigers scored two more in the seventh. DuBose grounded out to shortstop but drove in Shane Cox and then Austin Baskin tallied his second sac-fly of the game when he drove in Skinner.
The Shockers got a run back in the seventh on a Brock Rodden double to cut Memphis' lead to 6-3.
In the eighth, WSU got the tying run to the plate. Memphis closer Dalton Kendrick induced a ground out to himself to get the Tigers out of the inning. Kendrick remained in the game for the ninth inning and closed the door on the Shockers to pick up his 11th save of the season.

TAMPA, FIa. – The University of Cincinnati baseball team completed the series sweep over South Florida with a 10-4 victory on Sunday afternoon at USF Baseball Stadium.
Behind small ball and strong pitching, Cincinnati earned its first American Athletic Conference sweep of the season to improve to 20-24 overall and 8-7 in The American. The Bearcats used 12 singles, six walks, two stolen bags, two hit by pitches and one sacrifice fly to pull away from the Bulls. It marked UC's first sweep over USF (17-28, 6-9 American) since April 1-2, 2006.
Junior Josh Hegemann was a perfect 4-for-4 with a walk and one run scored. It was Cincinnati's first four-hit performance of the season, and the first since Paul Komistek did so against ECU on April 2, 2022. Hegemann batted .875 (7-for-8) in two games against the Bulls this weekend.
Redshirt sophomore Kerrington Cross continued his recent tear with his sixth multi-hit performance in the last seven games, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a stolen base. Redshirt junior first baseman Ryan Nicholson hammered his 11th home run of the season to move his career total to 28. He finished with three RBI, two runs scored and a walk.
Lauden Brooks and Tommy O'Connor each added two hits while Brooks drove in two runs on his second home run of the season.
Freshman starter Tommy Boba allowed three runs on four hits and struck out four batters with two walks in 3.2 innings. Freshman Chase Horst (3-3) earned the win in 3.1 innings in relief. He surrendered just one unearned run on three hits and struck out three batters with zero walks. Redshirt junior Alex Shea and freshman Griffin Hugus each worked scoreless frames to close out the game.

ORLANDO, Fla. – University of Houston freshman second baseman Thomas Lyssy blasted a 3-run homer – the first of his collegiate career – to highlight a five-run eighth inning and lead the Cougars to a 12-9 come-from-behind win over UCF in the series finale at John Euliano Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Cougars held a 6-5 lead after five innings before UCF grabbed a 9-6 lead with a four-run sixth inning. However, Houston added a single run in the seventh inning before seizing the game one inning later.
The game was called after eight innings after more than four hours of play due to the Cougars' travel plans, which included a pre-arranged 3:45 p.m. (CDT) hard-out end time.
On Sunday, Houston continued its offensive barrage, outhitting UCF 14-13 with two home runs to give them 10 homers in the series against the Knights.
With the win, Houston improved to 25-19 overall and 10-5 in American Athletic Conference play. Combined with Memphis' win over Wichita State on Sunday, the Cougars joined the Shockers in a tie for first atop the American Athletic Conference standings.
