No. 4 James Madison Cruises Past No. 23 Richmond Wednesday

HARRISONBURG, Va. – No. 4 James Madison lacrosse put up its highest-scoring offensive performance of the season, as three players including two midfielders recorded hat tricks in a 20-10 victory over No. 23 Richmond at Sentara Park on Wednesday. 
 
The Dukes won their 12th straight game to improve to 12-1, their longest winning streak since winning 14 straight to close the 2018 national championship season. Richmond fell to 10-3 with the defeat.
 
Senior Lilly Boswell marked her first career hat trick on Wednesday, tying for the game high with redshirt junior Isabella Peterson, who put up her 10th hat trick of the year. Redshirt junior Taylor Marchetti also scored her first hat trick of the season. The Dukes’ offense had a 20-goal performance for the first time since April 16, 2022 against William & Mary.
 
Redshirt senior Rachel Matey filled the stat sheet with four ground balls and a caused turnover to go with five draw controls on the day. Her second draw control marked 246 for Matey’s career, breaking Haley Warden’s all-time JMU record. Eight players registered caused turnovers on the day, with a pair from redshirt senior Mairead Durkin.
 
For Richmond, Sophia DiCenso, Colleen Quinn and Alexis Morton scored twice while midfielder Hannah Custer registered three caused turnovers and picked up five ground balls.
