IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the final week of the regular season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Josh Moylan, Jr., 1B, East Carolina
Moylan hit .412 (7-17), while recording three runs scored, three doubles, two home runs and 10 runs driven in as the Pirates earned a sweep over South Florida and earned their fourth-consecutive American Athletic Conference regular season championship.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Justin Murray, Jr., Houston
Murray pitched four scoreless innings of no-hit relief in Friday’s come-from-behind 8-7 victory over Cincinnati. The junior recorded six strikeouts and only issued one walk as the Cougars came from down five runs in the bottom of the ninth and won the game in the 10th.
HONOR ROLL
Andrew Sundean, So., C, UCF
Sundean hit .333 (6-18), with four runs scored, one double, three home runs and seven RBI as the Knights earned a series win over Wichita State.
Ryan Nicholson, R-Jr., 1B, Cincinnati
Nicholson hit .375 (6-16) with three runs scored, three home runs and six runs driven in four games for the Bearcats.
Danny Beal, Jr., P, East Carolina
Beal allowed one run in 8.1 innings of relief over two appearances for the Pirates, including six innings of scoreless innings in Friday’s 8-3 win over South Florida.
Austin Baskin, Jr., OF/UTL, Memphis
Baskin hit .455 (5-11) with four runs scored, three doubles and nine RBI in a series win over Tulane.
Teo Banks, So., OF, Tulane
Banks hit three home runs and hit .400 (4-10) in three games last week for the Green Wave.
