CLEARWATER, Florida – Sixth-seeded Memphis took down No. 3 seed Wichita State, 10-6, in the fourth game of the 2023 American Baseball Championship presented by Visit St. Pete Clearwater Tuesday night, May 23 at BayCare Ballpark.
 
With the win, Memphis (29-26) advances to the winner’s bracket and will play Tulane on Thursday, May 25 at approximately 4:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+. Wichita State (30-24) will face Houston on Wednesday, May 24 at approximately 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+ in an elimination game.
 
After Wichita State struck first in the first inning, the Tigers scored three in the second inning and two more in the third. The Shockers cut the lead to two at 6-4 in the fourth, but Memphis pushed the lead back up with a pair of runs in both the seventh and eighth.
 
Logan Kohler and Anthony Hansen both hit home runs for the Tigers, while American Player of the Year Brock Rodden was 3-for-4 with three RBI for the Shockers.
 
David Warren (5-5) earned the win for the Tigers after allowing two runs (one earned) in four innings of relief. Grant Adler (5-4) took the loss for the Shockers after allowing five runs (two earned) in 3.0 innings of work.
