IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the 12th week of the season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Austin Baskin, Jr., OF/UTL, Memphis
Baskin hit .600 (9-15), scored six runs and drove in seven runs as the Tigers went 4-0 and earned a sweep over South Florida. It was Memphis’ first conference series sweep since May 4-5, 2013. Baskin recorded at least one hit and one RBI in all three conference games, including a 4-for-4 game in Sunday’s win.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Wyatt Lunsford-Shenkman, So., East Carolina
Lunsford-Shenkman appeared in two games and did not allow a run in 6.0 innings. On Sunday, he pitched five perfect innings with three strikeouts and earned the win in a 6-5 victory at Cincinnati that clinched a sweep for the Pirates.
HONOR ROLL
Lex Boedicker, So., OF, UCF
Boedicker had a monster game in the midweek for the Knights, hitting three home runs and driving in seven runs against North Florida.
Cameron Leiter, Fr., P, UCF
Leiter struck out 11 batters in five innings of work, earning the win in a 10-3 victory at Tulane on Sunday.
Justin Wilcoxen, Jr., C, East Carolina
Wilcoxen hit .500 (7-14) with four runs, a double, a home run and seven RBI in four games for the Pirates, including a sweep at Cincinnati.
Justin Murray, Jr., UTL, Houston
Murray hit .500 (6-12) with three runs scored and three RBI from the plate, while also earning saves in both wins over Wichita State in a battle for first place.
Ricky Castro, Gr. Tulane
Castro earned the win on Saturday against UCF, allowing two runs in six innings with eight strikeouts.
