The American Announces 2023-24 Women’s Basketball Schedule Pairings

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the women’s basketball league schedule pairings for the 2023-24 season.
 
The women’s league schedule will expand to 18 games from the previous years’ 16 games. Every team in The American will play five of its 13 conference opponents twice and the other eight once – four at home and four on the road. The American welcomes UAB, Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Rice and UTSA into competition this season. Starting this season, The American will have 14 teams competing in women’s basketball with the six additions of UAB, Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Rice and UTSA joining continuing members, East Carolina, Memphis, South Florida, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and Wichita State.
 
Six programs competed in postseason tournaments in the 2022-23 season. Defending American champion East Carolina and American regular season champion South Florida both competed in the NCAA Championship with the Bulls advancing to the second round. Memphis, SMU, Tulane and Wichita State all competed in the WNIT with the Tigers advancing to the Super 16.
 
The complete 2023-24 women’s basketball composite schedule with dates and times will be announced at a later date. The first conference dates will be December 29-31, 2023 and league play will run through March 6, 2024. The 2024 American Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Championship will expand to a 14-team tournament and be held at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, March 9-13.
